Running Accomplishments:

Stay in the game, keep in the moment - have conquered a few of the holy grails of running - sub 3hr marathon, ran Boston and qualified for Boston at Boston, 10K PR under 6 min miles, won a couple of 5Ks in my early days of running, running for 30 years and ran 39 marathons.  The transistion to the back of the pack has not been easy, but, acceptance, stay in the game, root for others, enjoy the rest of the journey.  Another off the bucket list second =  Provo Half IM -  have done 6 open water Tris and 6 pool Tris.  Gave the STG IM a good Tri, hope to take another shot at the IM.

Short-Term Running Goals:

2013 Race Plan - STG Half IronMan, Lake Mead Rage Olympic distance, STG spring relay tri, STG half marathon, STG marathon, Cozumel IM, Utah Summer Games Triathlon at Gunlock, Murray 5k with family and Utah Half Distance Triathlon, 187 mile red rock relay,  STG marathon,

*note of clarification - cross training miles from biking and swimming calculated as follows: (as someone may wonder) 20 mile an hour bike = 5 cross training miles (those not familar with a 20 mph pace, good bike effort for long distance,  swimming, convert 1 hour swimming to 5 cross training miles.  For those that do not swim much, great cardio workout.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Enjoy the Swim, Bike Run thru Life - Hope to Run a Few Races Support Sylvie - Be a good coach   - Support Jenna, Jeremy, Taylor and Bonnie - my kids are now into running, who would of thunk it.  long term goals, recover from the ankle sprain, accept was it, have fun racing, mountain biking, faster swimming.

Personal:

BSRools, the B stands for Brent and the S for Sylvie.  The Rools come from my personal running rools over the years: Never complain once the run starts, allways pick up the pace into the wind and always pick up the pace on a hill. If someone whines, pick up the pace.  Once a goal is set, no whining, regardless of setbacks.  We were running when running was not Kool.   Kool comes from a race story, ran my first race, 5K wearing a "beanie that had "Kool Aid Kid"

Light workout day, 20 miles on the bike, weight workout, ball crunches, wall squats.  Hopefully, going to see my grandsons today.   I am a little anxious over STG coming this next saturday, my longest run has been the 15 mile Pine Valley Trail run.  I plan on running as much of the race as possible along the dirt to ease the pounding.   Sylvie really wants this to be our last marathon, her 18th and my 38th, I have mixed feelings about it being the last.   It really won't be the last if I can get in shape for the 2012 Iron Man.  It is kind of like saying good bye to an old friend, my 18th STG, with each race having a story.  I have scrap booked each marathon race with pictures and a story about the race.

Oooo, just thinking about never getting to run St George again would have me anxious and a bit freaked out, too! i can not believe how many marathons you two have run---so cool! But there is always bigger, better, and more fun, right???

In case I do not get a chance to make a comment between now and Saturday (slacker blogger.busy mom syndrome), BEST OF LUCK TO BOTH OF YOU! Enjoy every minute of it.

K-Power, thanks, it has been a great ride. Good luck at St.George, I will be thinking about you and other bloggers going for PRs, exciting times to get in great shape and give it your best. Running would mean little if we did not have others to share the experience with.

Never say never. That being said, I never would have fancied you a scrap booking kind of guy.

Your running goals are to "enjoy the run thru life." You don't have to be in a race to be a runner, I think they just help bond runners together and give us goals.

I totally agree---I am a social runner!

Good luck at the SGM. You will do great! Just enjoy the whole dang thing!

Brent I certainly understand the mixed feelings. Like QP said - never say never. Those mixed feelings wouldn't be so bad if they weren't so mixed. Hope to see you guys this weekend.

QP's got it for me, "enjoy the run thru life" Races don't make runners, running makes runners - and you'll always be a remarkable one in my book, no scrap.

Brent!!! It makes me sad even thinking about not running marathons, ESPECIALLLY St. george. There is something magical about that race. You should, at least, try to make it into the 20 year club.

After dropping out of Park City half way through, I had decided to not run anymore marathons this year and focus on speed. So, since Park City I have only been doing short runs, maybe a couple miles each, I have not been training for St. George. About a week ago I started thinking about what I was missing out on, so I decided to go for it, even though I'm in no shape too run it.

Perhaps we'll meet at the fires. I think we are all meeting at our usual haunt, the second to last fire pit closest to the road. I'm brining my chair again.

Go Big - good luck at STG, by the way, is there an Iron Man in your future? I am signing up for the 2012 STG Iron. You have talent, you would likely do well.

Dale, call in pride, earning the right, whatever, I will start the race with Sylvie, just after the top 10% group, I had the honor of being in the group for the majority of my STG marathons. Also, I want to see some of my running friends go by and say hi. Good luck, see you at the finish.

Tom, you never know, may change my mind, my thoughts are to save my knees for a shot at the 2012 IronMan, then think about what's next.

Devine and Capitan QP - you two are a great tag team, have fun running the marathon together.
