Running Accomplishments:

Stay in the game, keep in the moment - have conquered a few of the holy grails of running - sub 3hr marathon, ran Boston and qualified for Boston at Boston, 10K PR under 6 min miles, won a couple of 5Ks in my early days of running, running for 30 years and ran 39 marathons.  The transistion to the back of the pack has not been easy, but, acceptance, stay in the game, root for others, enjoy the rest of the journey.  Another off the bucket list second =  Provo Half IM -  have done 6 open water Tris and 6 pool Tris.  Gave the STG IM a good Tri, hope to take another shot at the IM.

Short-Term Running Goals:

2013 Race Plan - STG Half IronMan, Lake Mead Rage Olympic distance, STG spring relay tri, STG half marathon, STG marathon, Cozumel IM, Utah Summer Games Triathlon at Gunlock, Murray 5k with family and Utah Half Distance Triathlon, 187 mile red rock relay,  STG marathon,

*note of clarification - cross training miles from biking and swimming calculated as follows: (as someone may wonder) 20 mile an hour bike = 5 cross training miles (those not familar with a 20 mph pace, good bike effort for long distance,  swimming, convert 1 hour swimming to 5 cross training miles.  For those that do not swim much, great cardio workout.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Enjoy the Swim, Bike Run thru Life - Hope to Run a Few Races Support Sylvie - Be a good coach   - Support Jenna, Jeremy, Taylor and Bonnie - my kids are now into running, who would of thunk it.  long term goals, recover from the ankle sprain, accept was it, have fun racing, mountain biking, faster swimming.

Personal:

BSRools, the B stands for Brent and the S for Sylvie.  The Rools come from my personal running rools over the years: Never complain once the run starts, allways pick up the pace into the wind and always pick up the pace on a hill. If someone whines, pick up the pace.  Once a goal is set, no whining, regardless of setbacks.  We were running when running was not Kool.   Kool comes from a race story, ran my first race, 5K wearing a "beanie that had "Kool Aid Kid"

Run with Sylvie, JRP, lagged behind today, no umph, maybe not quite recovered from the hard trail race last week.  Enjoyed the run, seen RivPaul and T NA NA.  Always exciting to see T NA NA, she gets so happy, like seeing your long lost best friend.

Maiden voyage on the Cervelo Tri Bike, 22.19 miles, up and down the long stretch between 7200 south and 7th west along the trail.  The bike is scary fast when in the aero position, it will take some practice to get use to the handling when in aero.   My first attempt at aero just south of Winchester, going good, all of a sudden round the corner and here is a lady with her kids, she is in my lane, veer to the right, go off the trail in the dirt, some how did not crash, back on the trail, HR 200, lesson learned, get off the aero on the turns.  The lady was clueless.

Weights, 2 one min. wall squats, 75 ball crunches with overhead weights, bench two sets, side lifts and pulls.  Nice day of working out, will do some bridges and stretching while watching TV later.

How fun to run into T Na Na and RivPaul! And how fun for them to run into you and Sylvie! Looks like fun all around! I'm glad you didn't take out the clueless lady and her kids! Be careful you speed demon!

Sweet bike! How about some pics? Sound like today was an all out adventure. Give me some feed back on your crosstraining. Is the extra training helping the running. I think the swimming is helping my lung capacity. I hit a 20 mile pr today without all out pushing. Maybe it was just one of those days.

Kim, nice run today, marathon pace miles PR pace for under 4, good work.

Mike, not savy in posting pictures, Cervielo P2C, 2008 used, great buy, only had 500 miles on it, (blue and black color scheme) scary fast in the aero position. I am with you on the swimming, big time improvements for oxygen update. I do need to spend a coulpe hundred on the bike to add a new front race tire, and an aero bag/seat setup. The P2c is carbon with mostly Durace. I finally broke down a took a swimming lesson, hopefully it will help. One thought about cross training, it seems that replacing a day or two or running (easy days for running) would be benefical, elimate a couple days of pounding on the legs.

Brent ~

Of course I get excited!!!! Seeing and running with friends is my FAVORITE part about this sport!!! :) :) :)

So ... liking your new toy?

The bike is the only thing holding me back from tris. I am seriously worried about crashing or getting hit by a car. I know ... I am such a baby. I need to get over that fear.

Very nice workouts!! :) :) :)

T NA NA - it does take some work to get comfortable with the handling on these light weight bikes, very touchy on the controls. I am with you on the car thing, only ride in the best places where little traffic. But, I would say you are a natural for Tris with your swimmng skills. You seem to be interested, Ironman someday in your future. Also, they serve Tang at the aid stations, that should tip the scales.
