Running Accomplishments:

Stay in the game, keep in the moment - have conquered a few of the holy grails of running - sub 3hr marathon, ran Boston and qualified for Boston at Boston, 10K PR under 6 min miles, won a couple of 5Ks in my early days of running, running for 30 years and ran 39 marathons.  The transistion to the back of the pack has not been easy, but, acceptance, stay in the game, root for others, enjoy the rest of the journey.  Another off the bucket list second =  Provo Half IM -  have done 6 open water Tris and 6 pool Tris.  Gave the STG IM a good Tri, hope to take another shot at the IM.

Short-Term Running Goals:

 2013 Race Plan - STG Half IronMan, Lake Mead Rage Olympic distance, STG spring relay tri, STG half marathon, STG marathon, Cozumel IM, Utah Summer Games Triathlon at Gunlock, Murray 5k with family and Utah Half Distance Triathlon, 187 mile red rock relay,  STG marathon,

*note of clarification - cross training miles from biking and swimming calculated as follows: (as someone may wonder) 20 mile an hour bike = 5 cross training miles (those not familar with a 20 mph pace, good bike effort for long distance,  swimming, convert 1 hour swimming to 5 cross training miles.  For those that do not swim much, great cardio workout.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Enjoy the Swim, Bike Run thru Life - Hope to Run a Few Races Support Sylvie - Be a good coach   - Support Jenna, Jeremy, Taylor and Bonnie - my kids are now into running, who would of thunk it.  long term goals, recover from the ankle sprain, accept was it, have fun racing, mountain biking, faster swimming.

Personal:

BSRools, the B stands for Brent and the S for Sylvie.  The Rools come from my personal running rools over the years: Never complain once the run starts, allways pick up the pace into the wind and always pick up the pace on a hill. If someone whines, pick up the pace.  Once a goal is set, no whining, regardless of setbacks.  We were running when running was not Kool.   Kool comes from a race story, ran my first race, 5K wearing a "beanie that had "Kool Aid Kid"

Brick day with Sylvie - good hard spin class (24 miles), 17 students in the class, suprising - mostly hill riding - went straight from the class and did 15 laps around the running track (1.5 miles).  Slyvie had a 5 lap head start, nature called, ran with her 10 laps, then a young guy passed me, stayed on his heels the last 5 laps, nice of him to pace me.  The knee feels much better after an hour spinning rather the right out of the shoot.   We hurried home, changed into dry clothes and ran an easy 3 miles to the never bear and back.   Runner siting, seen DC and said hi, always nice to see a Utah running legend.  I found a dog leash, carried it for a couple of miles hoping to find a dog or the owner, found neither.   My legs were darn tired for the 3 miles on the parkway, wanted to simulate how my legs might feel next weekend, well, it worked.

Nice Brick! Is the never bear the one near the 'gardens/swampy' area in Murray? The big wooden one? I used to ride bike with the hubby and kids down there, take a walk around then go home. LOVE that bear! :)

The race this weekend is 2 5K's, right? Sounds like you'll be right on track. Can't wait to see the results - and see how the knee does!

Devine - you must have ESPN, your right, we named the spot the never bear as it fell apart, not made of hard wood, and has been gone for several years. It is exactly 1.5 miles from our house. My heck, can't imagine you would know what I was talking about. Your the first one to ever mention anything about my references to the Never Bear. By the way, there is a kool trail below the Never bear we take in the summer time to get on some dirt.

Off the record, I very seldom complain about hurts, etc. well, I have a few hot spots, hope they feel better by saturday, I have been hitting it fairly hard that last couple of weeks, that is why I mentioned the taper a couple of days ago.

By the way, could you pick lotto numbers for me? we have an office pool we play every two weeks - 5 numbers plus the power ball, I will buy you a carbon road bike, new running shoes and race entry fees for 10 years if you can use your ESPN to pick the numbers.

Bear's gone? *moment of silence for the bear*

Those trails are the ones we'd let the kids off the bikes on and run around. Good times, in cool summer nights!!

I must laugh - I'm about the unluckiest broad around! NEVER win anything at the raffles I wait and wait and wait around for after races. I can catch stuff they throw out (height does have some advantages). Must be because all my lucky numbers are 'unlucky' ones. However, I'll throw these out there for you - who knows I'd LOVE the bike, could use the shoes and I could be the racing fool I've always dreamed of! :)
