I work the 7pm-7:30am shift 2-3 times a week.  One of the things I missed most about running has been my usual jog after waking up in the afternoon to get my brain back online and get me functioning in the land of the living again.  I got to do that today and it felt so good.  Oh how I missed you, Running.  Running takes a lot of the perils of night shift work completely away.  I have more energy, I feel good through my whole shift, I get back onto a normal schedule quicker, my sleep is more efficient, I eat better, I don't have as much brain damage so I can study better, ETC!

I'm all for anything that prevents brain damage. Now, if only I could get my kids to try it... ;)

Unfortunately, I continue to experience symptoms of brain damage.

I love the connection online to the info! I'm surprised that it says it was only 245 calories for the full run. I'm so big that I get 125/mile :)

You gotta love how your appreciation for running is increase 3-fold when you can't and then you get to come back. Nice work! I hope your week is going well.

I'm like #4 on the movie Multiplicity. :) "I like pizztha." "She says you don't fixth sthuff..."

RAD, I'm not sure why the calories are always so low, I feel gypped! It's only when I wear my heart rate monitor though, which supposedly it's more accurate, but that seems low. Although I do feel the general public thinks they burn more calories than they really do - the gym machines are always so high! Wouldn't that be nice. You must be really tall then because you're definitely not big. How tall are you?

From RAD on Wed, Mar 02, 2011 at 19:08:49 from 67.172.229.125

Yeah, I'm a big girl :) I'm 6 feet tall and well, if I was my ideal weight I would be 155 pounds - but I'm not there yet (after baby) so I'm not going to say how much I weigh now. I would have to be less than skin and bones to EVER get out of the Athena category, but that's all right. Being tall has it's advantages elsewhere :)

I do think the machines at the gym over estimate calories, but even when I wear my HR monitor with my garmin it gives me at least 123/mile on slow miles. The TM I was on today said I burned 1100 calories for the hour. HA! Nice try.

I think the best thing is that my BMR is 1800. I love it! I can eat 2000 calories a day on a diet :) Add to that nursing and running over 50 miles/week and I can eat ANYTHING. Only problem is I'm getting in some bad habits, good thing is I still usually loose about 1-2 pounds per month. I'm really going to hate it when I stop nursing.
