I am fascinated by music...it really moves me.  I feel so much joy when I'm out running to beautiful music with or without a strong beat, I like all forms!  And so far, when I'm running barefoot, I feel like I'm dancing out there!  (I also love to watch dancers on TV or in person)  Today I ran for 3 miles and after walking for a bit, I had the urge to run again to a cool song....unfortunately my spirit was willing, but my feet felt like mile 23 in a marathon so I had to stop!!  haha :)

2nd round of hard core calf massages, stripping, rolling, and jaw clenching coming up soon!  (this is starting to sound inappropriate)  Keepin 'em loose and limber. ;)

I'm glad you've found something that is making you feel so good and strong! I went to the PT today and we discussed barefoot running at length. I felt pretty much on the same page with him - it's a personal thing. Support works for some bodies and feet and none works for others. It is all really a personal thing. I'm going to start trying to strengthen my ankles and feet and possibly try running without my insoles. I'm not brave enough to go to the vibrams/minimalists right now and I don't think my body would do well, but it may not need as much stability as I'm giving it and as a result may be causing further injury.

Sorry for the long response - it's all just fresh on the brain and I loved reading your entries! YAY for some good music and moves out on the road.

Rachel, I'm glad you brought that up. I've actually been thinking that a lot, that's it's a very personal choice and yes, I don't think it's for everyone. I think you just need to follow your intuition and you will allow do right by you. :) :)

I would never try to talk anyone into running this way just because I agree, it is personal.

I had read your blog earlier and just wanted to congratulate you on your AWESOME marathon!! Even despite your *woman* issues. :) That DOES make a big difference, so you should be proud!

And the love affair continues, between Brooke and her Vibrams. Have you made a little shrine to the wonder of the five fingers somewhere in your apartment? Has James started to complain and say, "No, the Vibrams are not sleeping in bed with us again tonight. They belong on the floor, Brooke." Hahaha.

But, seriously, I'm glad that you are running and enjoying it. That is all that really matters. Whether it is in Vibrams or Ski Boots, really seems only a small matter to me. The point is to run! And you are doing that, so all must be well.
