  • 10 easy miles - South Temple route that I haven't been able to run forever!
  • Between mile 4.2-6.2, I took off my shoes and carried them for 2 miles while I ran barefoot in my socks!

If you were to tell me last December (or even just a month ago) that I would be running my old 10 mile route, in my Nike Frees and 2 of those miles were barefoot, I would have laughed!  It feels so great!

I ordered a pair of Saucony Hattori's today from www.runningwarehouse.com.   You really should check that website out if you haven't already.  Good deals, free shipping AND free returns. It's where I buy 90% of my running gear unless I can find it cheaper somewhere else, which is very rare. The Hattori's are normally $59 on the website, but I got a coupon in the mail today for 25% off so they were only $44.25 with no tax!

YEAH!!!! I am so glad you got in a great run!

I buy all of mys stuff at RunningWarehouse.com, too. It is good that they are so cheap becasue you are going to need to really stock up on socks with that barefoot stuff!!!

Wish they would send me that good of a coupon, I would go on a shopping spree!

How is your achilles? Does it bother it to run barefoot? Nice miles!

From glidergirl on Wed, Aug 10, 2011 at 18:39:36 from 155.97.238.134

Scott, my achilles NEVER gives me a problem, ever. But I did take 3 months off Dec-March (mine was pretty bad, I don't know how it compared to yours or other peoples) and I'm very conscious of it now. I make sure to keep my calves loose with a roller and The Stick, I ice my ankles a few times a week after runs, I stop to stretch my calves during runs every now and again, etc. And I really think the barefoot running is actually helping it because of the full extension of the achilles and the tug and pull - it definitely feels stronger. I have transitioned very slowly though (following something similar to what's in the Complete Idiot's Guide to Barefoot Running), so I think it has helped that I've gone so slow. I'm not scared to run anymore because I know it's safe now!! It feels great!

Kelli - you're right, I'm gonna have to get some major stockpiles of socks hahahaha :) BTW, that sale of 25% the closeout on the website it open to everyone. Just sign up for a newsletter on the website. They only send e-mails when they send the 25% off coupons, which is about every few months so it's nice!

Hmmm...I thought I was on their e-mail list. Guess I will go sign up again. Haste missing a good bargain.

Missed ya at lunch, I finally made it to one of them!

Great to hear. Hey, have you ever considered trying Altra zero drop shoes? I'll probably pick some up in the next few months. Luckily my achilles is getting better, but it still isn't 100%, but I can run without pain.
