AM - 4 miles with Finn on a wet, misty, foggy morning after a day and evening of storms.  Feeling a bit deflated about my prospects for Boston in a little less than 2 weeks. I will be able to run, but the reality is my pace on my training runs and given my heartrate at those dimnished paces as compared with my recent few years - suggests that I will really need to re-calibrate downward, my expected time for the race. I am just really not running very fast and I think it is the functional deficit of the chronic hamstring issues I have been having for really about 5 months.  It is still achy and painful, but sometimes it is more managable than other times.   I have been able to put in some decent volume of mileage and got consistent long runs nearly every weekend since late January - but any time I tried to run a workout or do anything with a faster pace - I struggled to recover several days afterwards - and so I just ran easy between long runs.  As a result, I probably have decent endurance but no reasonable expectation of a pace to which I am accustomed.  Oh well - I will just have to take what I am given and deal with it.

Then go into the race expecting to just have fun...stop smell the roses, high five the little kids, kiss a girl at Wellesley scream tunnel, have a beer at the top of Heartbreak hill. Have fun and enjoy the experience!

Thanks Jeff - I will indeed do just as you suggested and enjoy the experience.
