PR's

5K: 21:26 (2005)

4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

2:38:49.  (1:20:25/1:17:47).  I ran on the new Santa Cruz river trail over to the Rillito River trail -- basically I ran from about 3 miles from my house to where I start my run when I run on the trail ... interesting that it was 9 miles!  This route is uninspiring - pretty industrial and runs parallel (and in some parts right next to) Highway 10.  But, there are no cars.  There are 3 parks/bathroom areas along the way, so there is water - I can't complain.   The weather was good ... about 70 and party cloudy.

I spent a lot of time thinking about our FRB's and their races today (Michelle, Andrea, Jake and Auntieem) - as well as two friends of mine who are doing the Ironman Arizona today.  Man, these are all some impressive athletes!

I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday.  Tomorrow is NCAA division I cross-country meet!!!  so so excited!

AM: (10 miles, 1:29:14, 44:59/44:14) pretty even splits ... this is a little more difficult than it would seem, as it is uphill pretty much the whole way after the turn-around.  Uphill with rollers no less!!  I can't tell you how good this run felt.  My legs felt fresh, I did not really even feel the hills (no pressure to run fast), and it was a perfect 45F!!

PM: easy 4, I started a little late so it was darker than I like ... but it the lateness was for a good cause, I got a new kitty!  Her name is Juno (it used to be Annabell) and she is very sweet.  Jake (the hound dog) is sort of still not to be tested alone with her, but in general he is behaving very well.

I hope you are all having a wonderful Wednesday that feels like a Friday ....

AM: (12 miles, 1:39:58), 28:53wu/31:37cd.  Cruise intervals: 6 x 1000 w/200 recovery

+ 3 x 200 w/200 recovery.  Target pace was 4:14 - 4:20 (6:46 - 6:56/mile, which is 5-15 secs/mile faster than 10K pace for me).

4:19, 4:18, 4: 19, 4:17, 4:16, 4:17 (recovery average: 1:20) + 3 x 200 at 46secs with 1:17 average recovery.

did a few laps cool down and then ran the 3 miles uphill home ...

This was both a little easier and a little harder than I was expecting.  I am pretty sure it was the fastest I have ever done this workout, but it did not actually feel good, until it was done!

PM: easy 4.

Happiest of Thanksgiving bloggers!

1:05:40.  Rained last night, which helped the temperature drop ... beautiful morning ~50F.

Dean and I both took yesterday off from work, but will end up making up for it today and this weekend ... lots of deadlines.  Good news is that classes are almost over, yea!

Happy Friday bloggers.

AM: (8.5 or thereabouts, 1:17:12).  My legs are a little tired and heavy today ... despite one of the best nights of sleep I have had in couple months (maybe a few months).  Probably because I am racing next weekend, my first race in nearly 18 months!

PM: easy 4.

Back to work, I did not get as much done  yesterday as I had hoped I would.  Such a slacker.

Happy Saturday bloggers!
