PR's

5K: 21:26 (2005)

4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

1:34:12.  (49:51/44:21) 3rds progression run, approximately 8:57/7:58 AP/5.5 mile loop (1 mile uphill, 2 + miles downhill, and 2.5+ uphill) . I ran this last year right after coming back from my injury in 53:56/51:43 -- but I wasn't doing a progression run.  Anyway, Greg wanted me to run 30' easy, 30` moderately easy and the last 30` at 1/2 marathon - marathon pace effort.  Since this run was super hilly, and I don't have a garmin, I knew this was going to be more by effort than pace ... I think I ran first loop a little fast, so it made the last 2.5 miles uphill a little harder than it should have been. BUT, all and all it felt really good.

I kept thinking about what the workout was supposed to do - it is about building stamina.  For me, I think less about my pace and more about how I feel and how long I have to go ... just like in races, where I am consistently evaluating how I feel, can I run any faster, and how much more do I have to run .... I just hope that it is also corresponding to a faster pace.  We'll see when I get back to the track, and my first 1/2 marathon in over a year next month!!!

Happy Sunday bloggers!

AM: (8.5 miles, 1:12:55).  I am not sure how long this run was, 23:59wu/19:33cd.  15 x 1` on w/1` recovery.

PM: easy 4.  I ran at Reid Park, the first time I have run here since my car was broken into last year ... funny, I had to go much farther to make it 18 mins before I turned around ;-).

Busy day ... they are all busy right now, but today was especially busy. Found out I need to help on a grant - last minute stuff, it is due on Friday! holy cow!  Friday. bah.  And it is tough stuff too.

Happy Tuesday (is it only Tuesday!?!?) bloggers!  Run fast, run smart, have fun!

1:03:48.  Yippeee ... by this weekend it will be in the 60s (as a high).  I can't tell you how happy this makes me.  I am thinking that the timing for an increase in mileage (especially long runs) is perfectly in sync with the weather ... bring it on!

Happy hump day bloggers!

AM: (10 miles, 1:24:08).  Almost the same run as last Thursday, except that I did 90" (that is 90 seconds Scott!) repeats up a slightly steeper hill.  10 x 90"  (26:12wu/21:27cd).  In a hurry - again.

PM: easy 4

I am getting so excited to see how Kim Smith, Lauren Fleshman and Meb do at NYC marathon this weekend!!!

AM: (8.5 miles, 1:17:12).  Could have been a little long, I was supposed to run 75` so I added on to my normal ~ 8 mile route -- the CoCo and BigBoy (horses) route.  I brought carrots for CoCo and BigBoy -- too many apparently -- I had a bunch of baby carrots wrapped in saran-wrap and I usually stick them in the back of my shorts ... but today they kept sliding down and ending up down near my bum.  I ended up sticking them in my jogbra - I looked like I had a tumor, a very lumpy one.  Odd, I know.  Luckily, it was worth it, CoCo and BigBoy were very affectionate, in a horse-way.

PM: easy 4.

Awesome 5K today in New York, kudos to Sara Hall, after her steeple victory in the Pan Am games, she comes home and beats Sally Kipyego and Julie Culley!  Great to see Ritz back too, his interview was pretty cool.  I met Ritz at a race one time, I told him what a fan I was, and told him I was going to tattoo his name on my bum (RI -- TZ).  I then told him it would be ok with Dean, he loves him too ;-) ... just kidding, I did not tell him that, though I did meet him.    I did want to also give a huge hooray to Aaron Braun, from McMillan Elite for his tie-for-first? 2nd place finish, and great to see Bumbi finish in the the top 5!!

I have an easy day today, work-wise, only a couple of minor things to do ... yea!  Happy Saturday bloggers!
