4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

Woke up in pain similar to a couple weeks ago.  I think that because of where my leg is hurt I can't wear the walking cast.  This is not good, because I think it means I might have to use crutches.

Went to a spin class today.  Was awesome in terms of a workout -- did not really get my heart rate up as high as I would have liked, but my legs were trashed.  Unfortunately, it sort of hurt my leg ... but my leg is just so darn sore today anyway (because of the boot I am afraid) I can't tell what made it hurt.  Jessica (the instructor, my friend and massage person) said that on Thursday she can show me how to do "hills" sitting down (when most people stand).  And she is getting me in the gym free for a couple of weeks.  I was thinking about joining (even though it was a huge gym, not really my "style") since they have a pool.  Unfortunately, the pool is a shallow lap pool and I am not allowed to do "pool running" where I can touch the bottom.  So, now I am not sure if I will join this gym or try to find one with a pool with a deep end.   I do like the spinning stuff, I just can't tell if I can do it or not ... meaning I can't tell if it is hurting me.

I hope you are doing well, happy trails fastrunning bloggers!

Bon - I am with you on the gym not being my style like that, but a deep end pool may be just the ticket. Did they give you any sort of time table for recovery?

Not yet, John won't even discuss it with me ... and he knows it drives me crazy. I bugged him about it by text yesterday and he wrote back, "I am choosing to ignore that". Well, ok, I had text him about 4 times about the x-ray and each time I ended with, "so what do you think, when can I run again?" -- he ignored me each time and then finally after my last "yes, and then how long until I can run" he finally told me he was ignoring me ;) Luckily, he is my friend, otherwise he probably would "fire" me!

This is not fun, but I know it could be worse. I have to admit, I did almost cry coming out of the gym this morning. But, then I went and got a haircut and felt a little better (its a woman-thing).

I feel guilty being lazy about running when you want so much to run and can't. Hang in there, Bonnie. You're going to be an amazing spinner or swimmer or pool runner or something before long.

You will find your inner joy again Carolyn. May your mouth never utter those words again (I don't want to be an amazing spinner or ellipticaler ;-) )

Sorry it's such a frustrating time. I'm glad you have friends who are trying to help you through it. :)

Thank Catherine, yes, I am very lucky!
