5K: 21:26 (2005)

4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

AM: (9+ miles, 1:20:13).  Warm, hilly run -- but not as mountainous as Sunday.   I felt really good today.  At first it felt like I was running really slowly, but when I hit my first landmark I was actually faster than usual.  I went to my "landmark" turn-around today (rather than my watch turn-around).

PM:(easy 4).

Keeping in the never-ending summer saga -- this week we should see some 100F days.  Luckily the lows are still in the high 60s, so my morning runs will be in the mid-to-high-70s (because I just can't get started early enough to get the lows ;-)).  My PM runs will be in the 100s I am sure, but by then the sun will be down and it won't feel as hot.

So, Sunday night I had a very scary dream about snakes.  And then, Dean had to tell me (really he actually did) that yesterday morning he found a scorpion in his bathroom drawer -- EWWWWW.  So, I had to get up and go to the bathroom last night and I just KNEW I was going to get stung - I think I must have laid there for an hour before I got up to go ... I really don't like spiders, and to me scorpions are too much like meaner spiders.

They're more likely to crawl in bed with you and sting you.

Ew! Reading that last bit gave me the heebie jeebies.

Good luck in those high, high temps!

A few weeks ago i went to the lake on a girls trip and we found a scorpion upstairs with us. all we could figure is that I tracked it in on my shoe when i went out running. i didn't know that we had those things in alabama! it freaked us all out!

had i been you last night, i would've made dean get up and check for potentially hazardous situations before i got up. hmmmmmm... maybe that is why i'm single ;)

I have to admit that I don't envy your heat. I'm impressed with your ability to run in it. But I suppose we all play the hand we're dealt.

I shouldn't tell you this, but when we lived in El Paso, my husband got a huge infection in his leg. His leg got all swollen and they had to make three big incisions to drain the infection. We don't know for sure, but we think it might have started from a scorpion's sting.

Thanks Burt, now I will never sleep again! Good luck on your move, btw. I would come up to help you, but I am allergic to moving.

Tracy, me too ... I am heebing all over the jeebie!

KP - I did not know that you had them either, but you do!! California has the most of them (and most different types).

Carolyn -ick, I have heard of that happening with spider bites, but not scorpions, ick.

I'd be packing my suitcase. You must really like the desert to put up with scorpions in the house.

Great running!

How did you slep last night?
