PR's

5K: 21:26 (2005)

4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

Last night was a great night for racing at the Pre Classic.  My favorite quote of the night: "well, as far as introductions let's start with world record holders and work our way down from there"  WOW.  27:10 10K was "middle of the pack".  They went through the 5K slower than they had hoped (13:25 -- they had two rabbits but neither were able to go as fast as the lead pack!!!!  can you imagine a race so quick that you couldn't find rabbits to pace?) - the goal was to hit the 5K in 13:18, as I think they were hoping to have the winner come in under 26:40.  Mo Farah (UK runner who trains with Salazar and the Oregon Track Club) won in a stunning 400m where he basically out sprinted the fastest 5K runner in the world right now (Merga).  Mo ran a 26:46 and there were 9 men under 27!!!  It was pretty amazing, they hit 8K in 21:35!!!  At one point the pack sort of slowed down (to a 4:20 pace) and there was a little jostling and two guys were talking like they were on a long run!!  Amazing.  More track and field today on NBC.

Take care bloggers.

You are my never failing source of racing news. I learned about rabbits in races recently.

And you take care too.

Amazing abilities those runners have.

Nice miles, as always. Are you guys already in Flagstaff?

Wow! That is some impressive running! I wish I had seen that.

It was an awesome race to watch - as was the 2 mile race on Saturday -- Bernard Lagat ran away from the field with 200 meters to go!

JD - we will (hopefully) be in Flagstaff at the end of June, kind of depends on how things go with my Mom's oncologist this coming week.

From Bonnie on Sun, Jun 05, 2011 at 16:19:10 from 64.119.33.134

I with you Chris!! Hows the new job??

From ChrisM on Sun, Jun 05, 2011 at 17:02:45 from 82.26.197.6

Good thanks- busier than a PhD student though! But lots of interesting things to do

From Bonnie on Sun, Jun 05, 2011 at 17:12:59 from 64.119.33.134

Yes, the PhD student days are just a stepping stone to even more sleepless, stressful days of math-filled bliss ;-).

By the way my post was supposed to read, "I am with you Chris" or even, "I hear you Chris" ... but ... what can I say, I am old.

From ChrisM on Sun, Jun 05, 2011 at 17:23:13 from 82.26.197.6

luckily I was able to interpolate your post

From Bonnie on Sun, Jun 05, 2011 at 17:29:08 from 64.119.33.134

ha ha ha ... or 'impute' even.

From Burt on Sun, Jun 05, 2011 at 19:00:02 from 72.223.90.79

You missed an apostrophe, too. Just thought I would point that out.

From Bonnie on Sun, Jun 05, 2011 at 19:01:03 from 64.119.33.134

I am lazy, so shoot me ;-)

From Burt on Sun, Jun 05, 2011 at 19:03:32 from 72.223.90.79

Well, I'm not going to shoot you. Just be a little more conscientious.
