4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

AM: (10.5 miles, 1:29:01). 30:00wu/31:09cd.  15 x 200m w/200 recovery.  I did this as a fartlek (:45 on and 1` off) -- uphill x 8, downhill by 7.  91F (41% humidity).  Felt pretty strong today, although the sun was out and it felt  much warmer than 91.

Did not sleep well at all.  As I was checking for scorpions last night (I always check under the sheets and around my bed) I found one!  Figures, since Dean was gone and it is NOT MY JOB.  I kind of freaked out and considered just moving to the guest bedroom, but decided that was silly.  So, I went and put on a pair of boots, long pants and my bathrobe (why?  I have no idea, I just felt I should be fully covered ;-) ), and then got a tupperware bowl, opened the sliding glass door, and stuck the bowl on him.   Then I kind of danced around and tried to figure out if I had enough courage to slide a piece of cardboard underneath and walk him to the door ... I have done this with mice, but they don't freak me out as much.   I took a few deep deep breaths, and did it .... RUNNING to the door, screaming and threw him out.  I was proud of myself, but freaked out.  So it took me ages to fall asleep.  Then, Keiko woke me every two hours to go out - the people at doggy daycare keep giving her food, and then she gets sick and has to poop all the time ... I keep forgetting to tell them to stop giving her food.  The short version of the story is that I got very little sleep last night ... and I have so much work to do today ... sigh.

PM: 4 miles easy.

You know what you could have done with the boots you were wearing?

STEP ON IT!!!

hmmm. Well, yes Purt, I could have done that, but I am a pacifist. It is a slippery slope. Once you start killing when does it end? Starts with scorpions and spiders and the next thing you know I am killing every guy who farts at me ...

Remember, we're not farting AT you, we're farting With you.

Jim ... ; -)

ha ah ha Kelli, I sent an email to them this morning - enough is enough. Dog food isn't bad, but I think they feed her people food. She has a very sensitive digestive tract ;-). Ouch - I think I will make Dean fold sheets from now on too, just in case!! Summers here are not fun -- but for 6 months of the year, it is perfect! I hope your feet heal up this week!

You guys are all making me look silly at work as I laugh here hysterically in my office!

JD -- ha ha ha, girls don't fart.

Tom, we are so glad to be of service!!

boots, bathrobes, fart(leks). this is excellent material.

good job taking care of business with the scorpion -- i use the tupperware/cardboard method with spiders, which freaks me out enough. i am not sure i could deal with a scorpion, and i would need full-on armor to deal with a mouse.

You are so tough. I guess I am not a enough of a pacifist. I killed two flies yesterday with my awesome new fly swatter.

I hope you get some sleep what with all your critter issues.

I thought of you today when I headed out for my run and a section of my garage had a huge mound of ants which I immediately sprayed. Sorry! And ants are so harmless.

And hard workers too!! although I don't like them in my house (I use cayenne pepper to keep them out).

From Jody on Wed, Aug 17, 2011 at 22:46:25 from 75.141.131.35

WOW! You are brave! We had my daughters class pet scorpion for a summer (yes, the Dad said yes, mom was not consulted) and I avoided the thing and its "aquarium" like the plague - NO WAY!
