4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

1:05:14.  Recovery run up the mountain -- beautiful day, felt pretty good, though my legs are tired.  I am also feeling a little tibial stress (my injury from last year) ... I am trying to nip this sucker in the bud this time ... time to start rolling on the ball, doing my calf exercises and maybe a trip up the John-of-the-ART is in order.

So, I thought I was going to be able to take a day off from work this weekend, well, that is not going to be happening.  It is OK though, and totally worth it, I found out last night that my manuscript that I submitted a couple of weeks ago has been accepted with minor revisions ... yea.  So, I have to make those revisions this weekend.  This was an invited paper - the editors asked me to write a paper for a special issue on colon cancer that they are putting together in March -- which is colon cancer awareness month.  cool beans.

Have a great Friday bloggers!

Take care of yourself!

Sounds like an honor. At least it's only "minor" revisions :)

Recovery run UP?! Nice. Way to get on that tibial stress and nip it in the bud!

Gotta love minor revisions!

I interviewed at ASU last Spring for a position in their geography department but it lost funding last minute. We would have been neighbors! Instead I am at a "teaching school" in VA now and just searching for time to keep my research going. Although I can't feel too sorry for myself if you work all weekend to keep up with your research expectations. Oh, academia!

Kelsey, oh, that is too bad you aren't up in Phoenix, it would have been fun to see you! I am not a very good teacher, really (and I don't like it much). My goal right now is to get a grant (or two) so I can buy out of at least one of my classes (of two) -- I would rather work weekends than teach as many classes as "real' teachers do ;-). Do you like to teach? Did you get your dissertation published? That always keeps you busy for a year to two ;-)
