10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

1:04:48.  Up the mountain.  Lately, I have had the unfortunate experience of brushing up against what I think is the same prickly pear cactus.  The reason I think it is the same one (I can't tell by looking at it, and the scenery looks about the same) is that it gets me at exactly the same place on my thigh every time.  I seem to have a perpetual rash from the tiny little cactus spikes that get embedded in my skin.  Anyway, today I managed to avoid the grabbing prickly pear.  I generally happens on a Friday, so I will see if I can outsmart it this Friday ;-).

Have a wonderful day bloggers!!

I wonder what the implications of my never seeming to be able to outsmart a plant are...

Did you see the article on letsrun the high school kid (sophomore!) running 3:56 for a downhill mile? wow.

(and did you notice that the letsrunners, in all of their wise benevolence, have been blasting Cox for not winning, while not really mentioning much at all about Wardian or Semick...?)

ha ha ha ... those tricky plants and their Chlorophyll!

Verzbicas is a phenom that is for sure, I hope he can make it to the pros and run well (and I hope that Webb can live up to the expectations that he has from his high school races!).

LR is all about hating on ultrarunners, I was surprised that they did not do more touting Semick. She ran awesomely and it is quite a big deal to come in 4th at Comrades. I try to ignore the haters, and try to find either the funny or actually informative posts (it is not always easy). I can't tell you (because it would be embarrassing) how many times I have succumbed to getting into virtual arguments there -- it is not very satisfying ;-).

It sounds like the plant is out to get you. Isn't there a musical about that? Little Shop of Horrors or something?

I've read about Verzbicas before. He's got great things ahead of him if he can stay healthy.

Yeah, I tend to go to the letsrun homepage and articles for information, and then I go to the forum for laughs. I rarely post (because inevitable some smart a... um... aleck will start something, whether or not he even knows anything about it...), but there are a few gems of wisdom (i.e., I tend to enjoy and appreciate malmo's comments).

I hope Verzbicas lives up to expectations, too. I met Webb shortly after he signed with Nike, and he had some good races (snagging the AR is nothing to scoff at...), but his achilles heel is his inconsistency. If he could just have one solid season (as opposed to one good race every couple of years), he'd be more recognized for the amazing runner he is, as opposed to being denigrated as a "should have been," as he often is now.
