PR's

5K: 21:26 (2005)

4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

AM: (9 miles, 1:17:09). 32:43wu+strides/27:12cd.  6 x 200m w/400 recovery.  Hit every single one of these at :46 (recovery was between 2:09-2:17).  This sort of took me by surprise.  Not only was it as hot as ever, but my leg really hurt this morning (I literally limped the first 1/4 mile of my warm-up).  Plus the womens soccer team was practicing on the infield (usually  it is the men), that was fine, but they left their backpacks all in lanes 1 and part of 2 near the start line!!   Pretty self-centered if you ask me ... there were some of these (ones with the tail wind) that I am pretty sure I would have gotten :45 if I didn't have to run out in lane 2.  Anyway, it sort of made me mad, but hey, I have enough to worry about than to let it stew all day ;-).

PM: (4 miles easy).

There was a road runner sitting outside on the ledge outside of our living room window this morning!!  He left before I could get the camera, pretty brazen if you ask me, all three of our domestic animals would love to chase him around.  Did you know that road runners eat rattlesnakes?  it is true.  They are studs (and they are supposedly smarter than coyotes ;-)).

have a great day bloggers!

NEWS: jshad just reported that fellow blogger Kory Wheatley was hit by a car while running this morning,  he has suffered serious injuries and is in the hospital.   More information will be given on the FastRunningBlog Discussion Board.

You always have great info... now if we have a rattlesnake problem in Ohio I am calling you for some roadrunners!

I saw the news about Kory on the forum, what a shock! I pray he recovers fast.

You have a lot of wildlife encounters! I am terrible sorry to hear about Kory--I will be looking for more news. It is a grave reminder to watch out for ourselves while out running.

I would have moved the backpacks :D
