PR's

5K: 21:26 (2005)

4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

Traveling - New Mexico, ran a little easier because of joints and altitude, good run though, relatively pain free

Hello bloggers, I have missed you. I have backed off running a little in the hopes of giving my new medication some time to work. The other drug I was taking just had too many horrible side-effects and yet wasnt working well.  My knee and hips hurt all the time, and the joints in my feet and hands were swollen all the time.  So, now I am on Enbrel (I give myself a rather painful shot every week), and I have backed off the mileage a bit.  Things are much better after nearly 4 weeks.  My goal is to take easy for another week or two and then start increasing intensity a bit.  Fingers crossed, my doctor says he can get me to "90%" - I don't if he means 90% of where I was last year, or 90% of an average non-runner type?  My hope is the former ;-)

I have missed you, and just have been too depressed to keep up, for that selfishness I apologize.

I hope those of you getting ready to Boston are enjoying the warm weather!!!

No PM run for me today, my foot is aching, and I want to try to run at least 1:45 tomorrow.

Hope you are all doing well!!

1:50:34.  Hilly, hilly run.  I felt so good today, night and day my running friends.  The swelling in the joints of my hips is way way down, my back does not hurt, my feet (the toe joints) don't hurt, and the the only remaining niggling pain is in my knee.  And, I can get out of bed again, without feeling like I haven't slept in months ... yea!  I am so relieved, and not nearly as grouchy :)

It has been a way too warm winter, I know for those of you in the cold it sounds wonderful, but it has been a very dry winter, and does not bode well for the summer here - high fire danger already.  Anyway -- it is nice, but warm.

Have a wonderful week bloggers!

AM: 8.5 miles, very hilly, and faster than usual ... Yippee.

PM: 3.5 miles.  Gale-force winds, and rain, until 5 mins before this run, then it was *perfect* oh happy days!

Run happy!
