5K: 21:26 (2005)

4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

AM: (9 miles, 1:17:53).  8 miles + 8 x 100m strides. I ran Sabino Canyon + one of the lower trails off of the visitors center.  Sabino Canyon is a beautiful place, despite most of the run being on ashpalt. I have heard a lot about it since moving here, but had never actually been there (since it is on the North East side of town and I live on the West side).  Rocky canyon that snakes up about 600ft (start is at 2800ft, so low to you high-landers, but higher than sea level).  The road is closed to cars, though they have a tram/bus thing that takes people to the top and stops at 8 different stops over the 3.7 miles up.  Not a really steep uphill (~3.2%) but steady uphill out and downhill back - I liked the uphill part, it was a good workout.  I did not like the downhill part, I tried to take it really easy, but I swear with every footfall I felt my body go 'ouch' ;-).  I am spoiled I know, I like my dirt trails and I like rolling hills.

PM: (4 miles, easy easy easy).

Happy Saturday bloggers -- I hope you all had nice runs and awesome races!

Great run Bonnie! So envious of the terrain you have there. I wish I had canyons to run in. I see that our PR's are pretty close except you got me beat in the majority of them =) Awesome job.

Hi Vinh, I am spoiled running-wise. Don't you have any good forest-type runs there? The best thing about here is that it is dry - that is the one thing I don't miss about the south (but I miss other things, mainly the people and the beautiful green trees).

Yes, our PR's are very similar, that is why I definitely think a 3:35 is well within your reach, probably even faster - but if I were you I would learn to start off a little slower, it would make those last miles a bit easier ;-). you did great today!

West side! Glad you get to explore more of Tucson. Did I tell you that I've never been there?

Bonnie, most of the runs here are either on the road or the beach. Hardly any trail races here unless you drive a few hours away.

I do need to learn how to start off slow. It has always been a big problem for me. I thought I did try to hold back the first mile lol, dang adrenaline. You are absolutely right tho. I'm thinking 8:15-8:30 for the first mile of the full next month should be okay.

I'm glad you had a beautiful place to run, even if you had to run on asphalt.

I can appreciate uphill running, but I do like a nice gradual downhill.
