4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

AM: (9 + miles, 1:22:05, 12 x 100m strides w/1` recovery).  Ran on the River path ... found a cool thing.  By crossing to the South side of the wash at La Cholla I can run entirely (the whole path is at least 11 miles one way - I think?) on dirt!  From La Cholla to I-10 the dirt path is on the North side of the wash.  No "official" bathrooms on the dirt sides (lots of virtual ones though), but water is available at least every 1.5-2 miles (very cool).

preblogging because I am really busy trying to get unpacked today!

PM: (3.5 miles, ~30 mins).

How long does it take you to get to the trail? I do miss the river trail. There were lots of loose dogs from what I remember, but perhaps loose dogs don't bug you since you have a couple yourself?

I takes me about 13 mins from my house -- I am actually near the beginning/end of the trail (near I-10). I did not see any stray dogs up here, I did see a very well-fed looking stray (read straggly looking) cat in the wash itself (gorging on the mice that the snakes don't get?).

Loose dogs (especially big ones in packs) scare me a little -- but most of the time if you don't act scared and yell at them (with big arms) they will leave you alone. I was really happy to see that the trail was dirt/sand -- it really is a nice surface.

I think (if we can get enough unpacking done today) we might drive up to Mt Lemmon for our long run this weekend. Did you ever run up there? I have heard that there are some nice "flatter" trails at the very top.

Hope all is well Michelle.

We would take trips up to Summerhaven. The air is thin up there, but you'll still be used to it. I've run up there but not enough to know the trails.

Actually I agree with you. It is only here in southeast that the fall season can get a bit old. We have had almost 20 inches of rain in October. Eight major storms so far with another one due later today. Don't get me wrong, I love it here but it makes for some hardships for those of us addicted to daily running. Hence the treadmill plays a larger role in my life than I like. Oh well, there is no better place on the planet than Alaska on a sunny day. Good running and thanks for the comment.
