PR's

5K: 21:26 (2005)

4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

AM: (9.5 miles, 1:21:28).  Pretty easy for the first half, started picking it up a little after the turn-around (it is a partial out-and-back, with a ~3 mile "lollipop").  Ran the last 10` between 10K and 1/2 marathon pace (7:00-7:15).  Pretty cool today - it was only 82F when I started and a sunny 88.9F when I finished (~60% humidity).  All and all, it was pretty tolerable heat-wise.

I saw LOTS of wildlife today! (1 deer, 1 rattlesnake, 2 javelina, 1 coyote)

PM: 4 miles easy.

Working this morning and then taking a little trip up to Phoenix to get abused fixed by John of the ART.  I am already preparing for the indescribable pain of the sonic blast machine on my poor foot ... but since I can't really walk after sitting down (and getting up in the morning), it has to be done.

Have a great day bloggers!

Do you see rattlesnakes very often on your runs down in the desert land? I've had a few run-ins in the SLC foothills, and they scare the heck out of me and make my heart rate jump about 50bpm!

You see so much wildlife now, it's almost like the honeymoon's worn off.

Hey, don't forget to drop by. I live in Mesa now so it's not as far a drive.

Happy Friday Eve!

Hi Jake, we can't run on the trails here during the summer because there are so many rattlesnakes - usually in May I quit running trails after I see two in a row on the trails ... that said, I have seen 4 of them since I quit running the trails, one in my backyard, two on the road and one in a park!! They are scary, but very beautiful too!

Burp -- ha ha, the honeymoon will never be over! You will be at work when we are coming through! Next time we come on the weekend we will stop by!

Catherine -- same to you dear!

JD -- I have a pretty serious case of PF, I almost always have it, but it has been worse the last few weeks. It is bad enough that I can't even walk on it in the morning until I have limped around for 45 mins or so. I will tell you this, the sonic blast (it is actually shock wave therapy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extracorporeal_shockwave_therapy) machine hurts like the dickens. I literally cry and sweat so much because of the pain. Fortunately, or unfortunately, it works (eventually).

Oh yeah, I was aware of the PF, my brain is just kind of fuzzy. I'm glad you have some sort of treatment that helps, and the shock wave therapy sounds like a blast!!
