10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

2:12:00.

Beautiful day, about 50F and sunny.  Ran on the trails, saw one cyclist and one horse and rider.

Actually took yesterday off from work - yea, first day off since Thanksgiving.  Now I have to work a lot today to make up for it.  But it was super sweet yesterday.

Have a happy Sunday bloggers!

 Day 4 eye.

Yesterday's cross-country races were AWESOME!  Brent Vaughn (husband of one of Nan's teammates, Sara Vaughn)  won the men's race with Bumbi (runner from Nashville that we knew from when he was the high school star, he then went to Georgetown) coming in second - we were screaming at the end of the race!  On the women's side Shalane Flanagan won her second national XC title dominating right from the gun -- she beat Molly Huddle (current American record holder in the 5K).  On the master's side, Nan's other teammate, Colleen De Reuck  just ran away with it and almost 50 year old Pete Magill won the mens race handily.  Great racing.  The New Balance indoor games was yesterday, but it was televised today, so I have not looked at the results yet (we taped it and will watch later tonight).

I'm glad you got a day off work!

I gave your mp3 player case to Lily yesterday and gave her a hug from you.

Your eye is gnarly. I hope it's feeling okay.

ohhhh ... I am so glad you saw Lily and she got her hug. I should have emailed her too and told her to hug you for me ... drat.

Hope you are feeling well Catherine!

How is the eye feeling?? Does it hurt at all?

Glad you got out for a beautiful run!

Hi Kelli, my eye never hurt -- it was my head that hurt (well, and I was pretty nauseated the first 2 days). I am doing much better ... my eye was black because apparently when you get a hematoma near your eye the blood pools in your eye socket.

I am so very sorry about your butt. I think you are just going to have to be as patient as possible Kelli, if you are able to stay off your keester all week, it will give it a chance to heal and increase the likelihood you will be back at it really soon. I am relieved that you did not fracture anything, but even sprains-in-the-butt (who knew??) will take a little while to heal. Good luck taking it easy, I am sure it is hard for you ... I wish I could come by and help (at least wipe the fingerprints off the fridg for you).

So, to try to cheer you up, I will tell you one of my favorites jokes ever:

Two elderly women were out driving in a large car -- both could barely see over the dashboard. As they were cruising along they came to an intersection. The stoplight was red but they just went on through. The woman in the passenger seat thought to herself "I must be losing it, I could have sworn we just went through a red light."

After a few more minutes they came to another intersection and the light was red again and again they went right though. This time the woman in the passenger seat was almost sure that the light had been red but was really concerned that she was losing it. She was getting nervous and decided to pay very close attention to the road and the next intersection to see what was going on.

At the next intersection, sure enough, the light was definitely red and they went right through and she turned to the other woman and said, "Mildred! Did you know we just ran through three red lights in a row! You could have killed us!"

Mildred turned to her and said, "Oh, am I driving?"

OH, that is a good joke! I actually did laugh out loud and then had to read it to my kids so they could see what I was laughing at!

Sorry about the eye, I bet it really did cause a serious headache. I am glad there is no pain near the eye, I was imagining this excruciating pain every time you blinked.

No worries about me. I am going to be so good and patient. i have a race in AZ that I have been waiting to run for 2 years, SO I will behave!! I have a little less than 3 weeks, I hope that is long enough!!!

And, yes, who knew about the darn butt? WHO KNEW????? Crazy!

Have a great week.

What is the race, and where exactly is it? Maybe I could come up and see you...

Ragnar Del Sol----all over the place! We are staying in Northern Phoenix with my sister.

Did you race at XC nats?? I was totally in the race...relatively speaking of course...not fast enough to have to pee in a cup anyways! We were screaming CRAZY for Brent (and for Renee...though she dropped out...)

From Bonnie on Fri, Feb 11, 2011 at 10:06:30 from 64.119.33.134

Hi Karen, I was not in SD but I was watching it live-streamed on Flotrack. I don't know why they had the race there, it would be much better to have it in Morley Field (where they have Footlocker) -- the course looks crazy with the turns!
