5K: 21:26 (2005)

4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

2:02:16 (1:03:17/58:58). 84F at the beginning, 93F at the end, no shade and never-ending sun. The sun is much hotter here than in DC, granted there was a lot more shade there too (lots of big trees), but the sun is definitely hotter here. It zaps you big time.

Last night on my run I saw a tiny baby jackrabbit - I had never seen one before - they are SO cute!!

Have a wonderful Sunday bloggers!  I have to go to work.

Congratulations on the Ragnor folks!  Great news about Kelsey winning her wedding!!

you must've started early to see 84* temps!

Not as early as I wanted to get out it was ~7AM. I can procrastinate like it is nobodies business!

i feel your pain; i ran a "race" saturday in TN with no shade. on a scale of 0-10, with 0 being feeling good and 10 being a heat stroke, i think i was around a 9.5 by early afternoon.

and wildlife is always fun to see. deer, foxes, rabbits; all of them are nice features of a run...

nevels, you need to "process" this race quickly because i would like to hear about it.

Nevels, did you run Moon Pie? That is my favorite race EVER - despite the fact that it is always hot and miserable. The RC/Moon Pie festival is not to be missed!

From Nevels on Mon, Jun 21, 2010 at 16:54:10 from 131.204.15.93

although the rc/moon pie 10-miler was this past weekend, it wasn't the moon pie (i did run that one 5 years ago, and i agree; it is a great race).

i did a slightly longer one, unsupported (no aid stations) that ran from Columbia to Dickson along Hwy 7, and it was a wee bit warm...

(i did stay at the RD's house right outside of Bell Buckle the night before the race, though...)

was this a leg of vol state? i thought it was later in the summer?

From Nevels on Mon, Jun 21, 2010 at 17:04:26 from 131.204.15.93

i think it covered part of the vol state course (or at least it was part of it at one time or another). same RD and same concept (in very miniature-form) though...

awesome! getting to know laz is how you get into barkley. now i see why you have to process the race. anything involving him is a bit "different," to say the least.

I don't know how you run in the heat day after day. My sweaty hat is off to you.
