Easy 4 (7:00 pace) in AM. Easy 6 in afternoon with 2 miles at 5:20 pace mixed in. Pace felt very natural.

Ran on treadmill. Warmed up 3 miles followed by 8 x 2:00 at 12 mph with 2:00 recovery at 10mph. Heart rate stayed in threshold range. Pace felt reasonably easy. 3 miles to cool down.

Ran an easy 10 mile loop (zoo loop) today. On the flats I picked up the pace to MP. Legs felt a bit heavy from yesterdays failed VO2 workout.

Welcome to the blog, Bob. It was good to meet you last week. By the way, if you're saying you have "no significant accomplishments yet," I don't know what business any of the rest of us have in posting our alleged "accomplishments"! Best of luck as you get ready for Houston.

Bob - welcome to the blog. I'll list your "non-signficant" accomplishments for you. Sub 2:30 marathon at least twice with a PR of 2:27:28 (St. George 2005). 7th place in St. George, made the coveted top 10 twice (2004,2005). 4th place in Heart of Holladay 5 K (Utah USATF Championship), beat only by Teren Jameson, Mike Nielsen, and Trevor Ball with the time of 15:53. A runner with a lot of talent that should go sub-2:20 in the next couple of years with smart training that keeps him away from injuries.

Speaking of accomplishments, Mike should mention that he did win St. George when he set his PR of 2:23.

Ran with Mike 3 miles to warm up then did 2.5 x 5 k intervals. I ran at a natural pace (5:27) but had to keep changing the pace to keep my legs interested in the workout. Sped up to 5:12 pace when needed. Cooled down 1 mile. Mike looks very fit. He needs a bit more speed but his base is enormous.

1 crownburger super meal followed by 2 miles warm up followed by 8 x 2:00 fartleks. Crownburger resurfaced at 6th fartlek. 7th and 8th were much faster. 2 miles cool down.

Ran a twelve mile loop with 4 x 1 mile repeats at 5:15 (last one) to 5:20 (first one) pace. Used Des News Marathon mile markers on wasatch. Legs are feeling good. I have to focus and run smart...the tapering demons are beginning to show.
