Walked to the ISU gym and ran 2.5 miles on the treadmill before walking back home. The run felt okay for the first 1-1.5 miles, but after about 1.5 miles I experienced a more severe tightness/cramp in my right calf than usual. Both of my calves have a tendency to experience minor stiffness during runs, but this time was more severe than anything I have felt in recent memory (>1+ years). I decided to try and "run through it" like I do with more minor stiffness, but that may have been unwise. I finally stopped short of my 3.0 mile goal at 2.5 miles to prevent any further harm. I probably shouldn't run for at least 5-7 days, and should instead utilize the stationary bicycle. Everything else felt fine and I was hardly winded at the end of run. It should be noted that I was adequately hydrated, but that I may have been undernourished during the run. Just documenting this for future reference for possible causes of the calf cramp. I also ran 6 miles last Friday, which was the farthest I had ran since August 2007, which may also have contributed to the stiffness/cramp.
