Hey Jake.

When you are in Marathon training do you usually do a 12 week plan or less or more. Just trying to figure out when to start training for a spring marathon without blowing up.

I think if you are going to taper 2-3 week, then 12 weeks is probably ideal. That gives you a 9-10 week buildup. More than that, and you'll risk getting stale. Better to be a tiny bit undertrained than overtrained. I'm 12 weeks out from Boston right now - so I'm going to get into more serious marathon training mode in about another week - giving me about 8 weeks to build up, then a taper.
