Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to accomplish my short term goals first... Once I do that, I will have an idea of what to expect long term... 44 yrs old now and since I've been injured free for 1 month I am jumping back on marathon training. Any recommendations for a good marathon in December 2021? What is your recommendation?

Personal:

Don't knock it until you try it.

Drove up to Austin on Saturday got there at 4pm. Checked in to hotel and picked up my package. Went for a run at Lady Bird Lake and when I got back ordered some Chicken Alfredo from Olive Garden. I got back to the hotel at 8pm and ate. Finished Dinner at around 8:30 and then dipped myself into an ice bath. Slept at 12:00a.m. and woke up at 7:00 two hours before race time.

Did 3 mile warmup

I got 8th place out of 23,000 runners with a time of 31:50 for the 10k Splits (5:09,5:06,5:16,4:57,4:59,5:10 dunno the .2) hard work is paying off!

Then did a 10 mile run at 6:40 pace!

21 DAYS to the Boston Marathon. This time indicates that I am ready to run a good Marathon! I can't wait!

Great job, very nice splits during the second half! Hopefully we can meet up at some point in Boston.

Way to go Benny...! I haven't know you long but it sure seems to me that you can run with the Elites...! I bet it's fun to run that fast... I can't wait to see how you do in Boston.

From SlowJoe on Mon, Mar 28, 2011 at 10:50:21 from 131.59.200.80

That's a tough course, nice going! It would be pretty cool to finish that quest for 2:30 in Boston.

From Steve on Mon, Mar 28, 2011 at 16:24:45 from 107.24.2.185

Very nice race!

From Benny's on Mon, Mar 28, 2011 at 18:20:13 from 24.170.84.44

Burt: thanks man

Paul: this is a very tough course if the first three miles were flat I would have easily gone under 31...I leave for Boston on friday I'll be getting there at 3:00pm. It be nice to meet a guy I've learned a lot from!

Ijustrun: i try my best to hang with them...sometimes I can and sometimes I can't...It's not fun racing 20 of them lol it's intimidating at times. Sometimes I ask myself do I even belong here? That happened in this race!

Slow: yes it is a tough course. I know if I can go sub 2:30 that will be equivalent to my Olympics! :P and so I can rename this blog hehe

Steve: thanks!

Okay Everybody,

We need to start thinking up new names for Benny's Blog....He's going to need a new one soon...!

Something like... "Benny Bagged the Boston"

Benny, haven't followed your blog for awhile, this is an amazing result, congratulations. You are going to kill Boston.

Hey Benny,

I just noticed the pile-up at the start in the photograph. You weren't part of that were you?

IJR: no actually the guy that fell down was the guy that won, the announcer did a countdown 10 9 8 7 6 5 paused and everyone counted down 4 3 2 1 but no horn blew so everyone went off on the countdown except for scott, he thought they were gonna call everyone back and as he stopped... people pushed and shoved him eventually knocking him down to the floor... he he got up and started running and never looked back.. he ran a 29:58 hehe

flatlander i hope so, thanks
