felt weird not running yesterday for the first time in 35 days. took a road trip to visit some friends so didn't really have time. had a headache all of yesterday for some reason.

ran 5.2 miles at lunch at 7:03 pace.

after work ran 3 with my brother and we have a rule where either of us can challenge the other. he decided to challenge me about 0.1 miles from home. i crushed him! ran another 1.8 on my own. 8:43 pace for the 4.8 total.

Nice pace for the first run. Don't overdo it though. What are you training for right now? I see you have been hitting 70 or near for a couple weeks. I havent been doubling lately and just doing 8 every day for a while now until last week I actually hit 62 with a 14 miler on sunday. I stopped doubling because I realized how my weight wasnt coming down, I was running poorly, and I thought my schedule for my next rotation wasnt going to allow doubling anyway. Now that I am in the next rotation and see that it is possible and have been working on the diet for a few weeks (163 this morning) I want to do some 70 mile weeks (just need 2 doubling days -- 6x8 +1x14 +2x5mile mornings =72). My big barriers right now are thanksgiving and christmas. When I fall off the wagon diet wise its very hard to get back on. So I will just have to be super vigilant.

hey haynes,

nice to see you on here again, it's not the same without you! you were getting in some crazy miles before. I really want to break 1:23 in the half next year (something about running a nyc marathon qualifying time). i may try the one you did last year when you ran 1:18. i'd love to break 1:20 but i think that's too fast for me. i had planned on doing a 36 mile race up a volcano in hawaii but just my luck there is no race director this year so i'll have to find something else. i may just stick to non ultras this year and see how much i can improve without constantly breaking myself down. running doubles is really the way to go. it's so easy to hit 70 with no effort if you do that. i was surprised you didn't do the half marathon in albany. i'll probably do a 5k or 5 miler somewhere around thanksgiving but have nothing in particular right now. what about you?
