AM Payson 10 K race.  No improvement over last year 2 seconds faster today, but that could have been just a push at the line.  Felt okay today leg is still bugging me, but as I warmed up I could work through the pain.  Didn't think about it during the race, but both legs sure got heavy around mile 4.  Looked back to see if the master that beat me here last year was close, but couldn't see him so I coasted in.  Last year I didn't know he was a master and he passed me late in the race.  He was from out of state and this year when I saw him I knew he had wheels to compete with.  I went out with the lead group and tried to make a pass just after 2 miles.  I was able to drop one of the two in the lead but the other hung on.  We ran together until just after 3 mile mark and he picked it up as I was content to slow up alittle.  Got passed by another runner about 5 mile mark saw he wasn't a master so I let him go.  Not always a good habit to get into.  When you let people pass with no fight it can work on your competitive mindset.  I need to work on pain focus in the end of races.  Added the 5K course after until awards and then added some more to hit the 15 miles for the morning.  Finally got a silver dollar from this race.  Bre has about 5 or 6.  She ran well winning the overall womens 5K.  She said it is the fastest she has ran in over two years.  Amazing what training can do...It's fun to watch the young kids improving in the race today.  Lots of PR's I hear.

Congratulations on a great race! With all the miles you've been putting in, it's probably not too surprising that your legs were a little dead and your motivation suffered a little. With a little taper you should do really well at St. George.

Bill, according to several news stories this week, Chuck Engle, aka the Marathon Junkie, is now living in SLC. Have you happened to run into him? He would be a good guy to get into the local scene and get on the blog.

Bill, are you still running? I'm sure you are but was just wondering what happened as we I have not seen any blogs this week.

Who won Onion days and what was the course like? Did you go up the big hill?
