I have bought a heart rate monitor. My plan is to keep my heart rate in a training zone. I hope this will curb my competitive spirit and allow me to focus on getting out of the door 3 times a week instead of trying to beat my previous training time. Hopefully this will allow me to ease into running without the injuries or disappointments plagued me last year.
Ran 1.92 miles in 27:05. average HR 144. HR Range 130-148, 18:58 in zone, peak 157 cal 578 based on 240 lbs. I was constantly shifting from running to walking and vice versa. I am sure it looked pretty funny if anyone was watching me. |
