I have raised two running children, one competitive and one not.

I have learned to run in ice and snow and I don't complain.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Work towards a faster marathon by Spring 2012.

Get my 5K down to 21:30.

Place in my division at duathlon and triathlon.

Train for biathlon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Joining Forrest Gump

XC skiing today to crosstrain.  A really fun trail; two hours long with a long gentle down and up then down and long uphill back to the car.  I wish there were rules about snowshoes and a lane for them, though.  They really mess up the track.  The road is plenty wide to have lanes for skaters, skiiers and snowshoers; I don't know why they don't do that.

Back in town tonight so that my daughter can have New Year's with her date, then an in town activity tomorrow.  I'm trying to decide between the combo run around Lake Padden, Polar Bear Dip in the lake and a long bike ride.  The bike ride is one of my favorite rides - about 50 miles round trip to a small community called Edison, where there are several yummy lunch spots and galleries.  But, its supposed to be pretty rainy and cold tomorrow, so maybe the run and dip will win out.

Hey Auntieem, thanks for all the encouragement and inspiration on the blog this year. You're a good example of how to be a well balanced runner/active person with all your "extracurricular" outdoor pursuits. Happy New Year!

You are one adventurous woman. The Polar Bear Dip sounds frightening.
