I have raised two running children, one competitive and one not.

I have learned to run in ice and snow and I don't complain.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Work towards a faster marathon by Spring 2012.

Get my 5K down to 21:30.

Place in my division at duathlon and triathlon.

Train for biathlon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Joining Forrest Gump

I'm a 52 year old mom of two ex homeschooled teenagers. They both think I'm nuts.

Ran 5 "easy" miles this morning.  I tried not to constantly check my Garmin for pace, rather tried to feel the correct effort and pacing for an "easy" run.  Concentrated on correcting my left arm position, and thought about form a lot.  Also worked on slow, steady, relaxed breathing and keeping my upper body relaxed.  So it was truly a working run, but at an easy effort.   When I got back just now, Garmin showed an average mile pace of exactly 9 minutes!  Perfect.  I feel like I really did a recovery run after yesterday's long run.  Also got lots of sleep for the first time in forever, which feels great.

It's amazing how much difference sleep makes, isn't it?

Yes, it does! And I did it again last night - 7.5 hours, plus a nap yesterday afternoon.

An easy run is a great time to focus on form. I've been trying to do that lately.

Congratulations on the sleep! It's too bad that in our society it's such a struggle to get enough sleep.

Hey, I'm not sure if you meant to put me or CarolynSCooney in your favorite blogs, but if you meant for it to be me (she hasn't posted since last November), you've got to add cocarolyn, not carolyn.

Ah! Thank you, I did mean to add you, and was wondering why that other Carolyn showed up. I'll try again.

type "cocarolyn" in the list instead of "carolyn"
