I have raised two running children, one competitive and one not.

I have learned to run in ice and snow and I don't complain.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Work towards a faster marathon by Spring 2012.

Get my 5K down to 21:30.

Place in my division at duathlon and triathlon.

Train for biathlon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Joining Forrest Gump

It is the kind of day that is hard indoors!  Nevertheless, I waited until this afternoon to do my bike ride.  Swam this morning, and I'm adding swimming to crosstraining miles now, since I'm officially training for a tri!  I seriously doubt my ability to swim at times; we will see if I can actually pull it off.  I don't mind if I come out of the water mid pack; I'll definitely be able to catch most people on the bike and the run.  My fear is coming out of the water dead last...

Bike ride was a sustained hill workout.  30 minutes wu, 30 minutes tempo effort on the hill, and 30 minutes cd.  Perfect day for it.  I believe Sunday's race has a large hill in it, which I will do twice, since I am doing the longer course.

Things are so busy in my house, with my smallest chick graduating and leaving the nest!  Prom, graduation, gowns, senior projects!  Best for me to stay busy and stay out of the way.  Trying to drop a few tidbits of guidance as I disappear into the background.....

don't worry she is listening!

As far as tri--what order do you do it in? is it swim, bike, run? bike, run, swim?

Tri is always swim, bike, run. Which will be strange, because I will come out of the water far from the front, and pass people on the bike and run. I will start as the underdog. But a very strong underdog!

What tri are you training for? What are the swim, bike and run distances? I have entertained a tri. Really would have to research the swim portion. And the bike portion for that matter. I would probably have to learn how to swim (correctly). I would be doing it more for fun than anything else. I haven't gotten this running thing down yet!

I do not think you will disappear into the background.

My tri is on June 25, its a local one, the Lake Padden Tri. Relatively small event. I am in the competitive division, so the swim is 1/2 mile, the bike ride is 20 miles, and the run is 5.8 miles!

I did a swim clinic around Thanksgiving to get me started, but learning to swim is slow and difficult.
