I have raised two running children, one competitive and one not.

I have learned to run in ice and snow and I don't complain.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Work towards a faster marathon by Spring 2012.

Get my 5K down to 21:30.

Place in my division at duathlon and triathlon.

Train for biathlon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Joining Forrest Gump

First track workout in awhile!  Actually, first track effort since I hurt my knee (6 weeks, 7 weeks?).  I did a very conservative workout:  5X800 with 400m cool downs in between, and added a few 200m strides at the end.  The objective was "T" pace, which is about 7:55.  Splits were 7:22, 7:48, 7:32, 7:28, and 7:41.  200m strides were 6:20 and 6:22.

The workout felt great, no knee pain whatsoever.  I could have done more 800s at that pace, maybe two more.  So happy to be back on the track!

No more skiing for me for awhile, since that is the thing that aggravates this knee thing.

Awesome track workout! I love to CC and downhill ski - sorry it is out for awhile!

I wonder if it is the sideway motion you make when skiing?

Great to see you back on the track!

It doesn't seem right for you not to be skiing. I only say that because I've only seen one picture of you, and you're holding skis. Speaking of your picture, I coulda swore you wore glasses.

Wow. Great splits! That looks like a good workout.

I hope the laying off of skiing helps since you seem to really love skiing.
