Managed to get in 10 miles today untimed. I dont have a reliable internet connection anymore so my entries are sporadic needless to say. I think there might be a chance of being able to run St George well if I concentrate on Lydiard type training with faster LT training at the end of the run. But the key will be to start with short 5k speed intervals with equal or slightly more than equal rest periods. As training progresses the reps will get longer but slower along with the rest periods until we are down to marathon pace for 20-30 min stretches. This will serve as a way for the body and mind to become more economical and resilient when it is fatigued in the late stages of the race. This is the best plan I can come up with for right now. If you really think about it, running does not have to be rocket science a lot of the time. You just run. |
