AM-7 miles with random surges at 5k effort. Definite change in altitude compared to Washington.  Post recovery meal consisted of cheese and Honey Crisp apples which were the size of a softball. You don't see these apples very often in Utah if ever...  From what I'm told most of the crop is now exported to Japan and the remainder is priced as high as three dollars a pound here in the states. However I was lucky enough to get a bushel roughly.  Time to go get some carmel:)

I know we have had an honey crisp apple conversation before, which says a lot about how long I've been on FBR or our interactions, Steve, but I guess this is another one :-)

I've said it before but it is my favorite apple. Something I didn't mention . . .

I've seen them as high as $4.99 in the grocery store. In fact $3 a lb is a pretty solid price from where I have lived. Even in Indiana they were $2.99 I think (and they came from Michigan) sometimes $3.49 or $3.99.

I believe I paid $1.99 at Reading Terminal Market here in Philadelphia last fall or the one before that (super cheap but a bit of a train ride for me).

honeycrisps are so high maintenance. and so delicious. i've never seen them under $3/pound, even when it's prime apple season!

enjoy your bushel.

I was a produce clerk for 2 years (it's what I'm best at actually) and I don't know what a honey crisp apple is.

It's a fairly recent hybrid between I think Granny Smith and another variety of apple. Don't quote me though.. Lets just say it's as close to Nirvana in the apple world as you can get minus the carmel..

jason-Yes, not surprised in all of the above. Add some cheese and you could easily make a meal out of one of these apples.
