AM-10 miles easy before school. 7:00/7:30 range.  TM.  Had some thoughts on the run that were bothering me today.  For some reason lately I seem perhaps overly bothered by the displays of backbiting and narcissistic behavior I see in some folks around me.  I'm to the point now where I have become kind of a recluse just to avoid the petty garbage.  But everywhere I look around me it's the same and always has been I suppose.  So my main thought on the run today is why am I so sensitive to it recently?

Remember to be kind everyone..  Darkhorse out.

PM-Easy 5 miles with some accelerations at the end.  TM.

Interesting Steve. I think much about the pace of modern life brings out the worst in people. I think if people had more time to reflect on their lives rather than just reacting to events as they occur that there would be less of the behavior you describe. We have to be willing to reclaim time to think. One of the benefits of running, especially if you don't have the I-Pod buds blasting your brain.

Thanks Rob I think your right. Besides dreaming, I think my easier relaxed runs have really been a good source of meditation. By the way, I have run Dimple Dell on the wood chips, man that is one brutal climb in places.

interesting post. i am currently reading "the narcissism epidemic" by jean twenge. it's an interesting discussion about today's culture and the generation of "entitlement". i know you are very busy but it's a good read if you ever have some down time.

Thanks Allie, Sounds like it would be an interesting read actually. I'll look it up for sure.

You know I really took a chance on writing that, but I felt very strong about the subject. I know that nobody wants to be mediocre or just another face in the crowd but wow! the things people will do to standout or get ahead never ceases to amaze me.
