With the increased pain despite the "lower" mileage week and extra days of rest I'm going to keep this week under 8 miles per day... Basically just focus on getting the knee completely healthy and not worrying about loss of fitness. Run STG with whatever I have left after ~6 wks of detraining and see what happens. Maybe this way I can just focus on an easier goal and help pace a different group. We'll see. Not too up beat about the recovery right now. Good news is that other things seem to be moving along. Later this month I go to a meeting where I get to give both an invited talk and a poster. It will be my first invited presentation and only my 4th time speaking at an international meeting so I better get working on that presentation... Mi 4-R3

Focusing on your invited talk and poster right now, sounds like a good plan. With what you have been able to do so far this year running, I'm sure that you will still have the fitness to rock STG!

Congrats on the presentation, where is it taking place? Sounds like work is going well.

Sorry about the knee issues my friend. You have a healthy perspective on it, so stay strong mentally and the strong body will return.

Thank you.

The meeting is actually just over in CO (Breckenridge), it is a smaller meeting (~150-200 people). In Nov I'm presenting at the AHA in New Orleans which will have >>30,000 people, but I only got a poster (normally about 10-20 of the 30,000+ stop by). Both are good experiences and all the exposure I can get is good at this stage in my career. As far as the running goes I'm trying to distract myself right now so I don't focus on it. I'm sure I'll still be able to line-up and run a sub-3, probably sub-2:45, but I think the ~2:30 is slipping away until next year...

Hey Adam, sorry your knee isn't healing faster. If it starts feeling better and you are up for a long run Saturday but want to keep it slower, let me know. I'm planning on ~21.

From Adam RW on Wed, Sep 10, 2008 at 08:43:22

Eric, You are trouble. Yes I would love to join you but I can't. My initial plan for the week was 90-95 with a 20-miler at 7min pace on Sat... Oh how quickly plans can change...

From Phoenix on Wed, Sep 10, 2008 at 10:46:01

Adam, I take great delight in being an instigator!

I'll be about 8-8:15/mi; so, if you decide a plodding long run will give you an LSD fix without wounding your knee, let me know.
