Very full morning. Met up with Steve A. at the zoo. We went up Emigration and down the other side almost to the golf course and back. The run went very well. We were both looking for some LSD and found it more or less. Most of the run we were just content to focus on a very good discussion. But we both opted to sprinkle in a little pepper the last couple miles. They are just the perfect grade. Our mile 20 was a 5:32, and that was only after I had looked down at a 4:58 pace and we decided to back off... I'm obviously tired after the effort but otherwise happy with it. I had wanted a 2:30 hour run and we finished in 2:30.34 so pretty spot on. After the run I had just enough to time shower before hopping in the car with the family to zip off to church. This afternoon I actually have to deal with some work (meeting tomorrow) but overall glad for a nice end to a good week. Avg. 7:31 HR 149

For those non-locals. This run goes up for 8 mi then we went down for 2 mi then back the same way. The total ascent over the course of the run is 2406 ft... Granted the last 8 mi are down but those two down/up in the middle sure make it interesting.

Awesome workout! Do you find it hard to get the faster pace at the end of a long run? That's just what I'll be working on in the next two months. (yikes)

Thanks for the run Adam, and the enlightening discussion. It opened my eyes to a lot of things. That's why I like running with you.

Great run and nice pace at the end. TOU MH would be a great experience for you this year.

It makes me feel guilty not doing a long run this week.

Sno,

Not on that course. The last few miles are so easy you float down. That and the good company helps. I like to spice it up a little at the end of longer runs. Some days are much harder than others. Today was an easier day.

Steve,

Thank you. I'm glad you suggested the course. It was fun and I also enjoyed our chat and learned a lot.

Kory,

One of the things Steve and I talked about is how important rest is when you need it. So DO NOT feel guilty about no long run this weekend. That was your training. For some of us I think NOT running is harder than running... But it is still part of training! You did the right thing. Enjoy what is left of your weekend and start fresh tomorrow.

Don't let the cops know you were both looking for LSD ;)

Sorry, bad joke, I couldn't resist.

Congrats on a great run. Sorry I didn't join you but we ended up staying in Layton and the drive plus the run would have taken too long.

Jeff, No worries. I figured something along those lines is what happened. Running is good, but when you have to tie yourself into a knot to do something you like it loses its enjoyment. I'm confident we will run together again... I hope the trip turned out well and you have a safe drive home.
