Single: I just didn't feel motivated today. I got enough done this morning but wasn't feeling "it". I had a rougher night and have been trying to get more than the 6.5 hours that looks like my new norm but the thunder storm woke me up and then I didn't quite rest after that. So got into work at the normal 6AM and out the door for my run about 11AM. I ran to SH stopping at home to say hi to Kaitlyn and Sandra at lunch. It is only a 5 minute stop but it is still nice to get to see Kaitlyn twice in a day instead of just the usual once. Starting from campus the first half of the run is mostly downhill and I let a couple of them be quicker but kept it relatively easy for a Thurs. Mi-11 T1 Avg. 7:40

Your a good family man and that's great. Does your job require you to stay up late at night or is it that you need time to settle down after work. Sometimes I stay up late, because I'm just not tired.

Very nice run today Adam.

It's partly my job. I've been trying to leave work at 4:45 to be home in time for a walk with Kaitlyn and to make sure we always eat dinner together. However, I usually can't get everything done. So for example today I did most of my bench work before my run. Then I did most of my ordering for new experiments after lunch. Then after bedtime I do computer and paper work. Right now I just finished running stats on all my data for one of my projects and am going to call it a night. It usually takes me about 1hr to settle down so I "should" be asleep by 11pm but have to get up at 5am which is where the 6-7 hrs comes in. Luckily I don't do this everyday but it does seem to happen more often than not. Oh and I forgot the 30-1hr I spend on the blog :)...

Well I commend you on your hard work, and being dedicated at running too. Our jobs are important and running is only a hobby.

I always make my family more important than running. I do hope things settle down for you, and you can get more sleep. Will Salt Lake City be a permanent home for your family and you?

Kory, I agree that running is a side thing. However, I also believe that life is about balance. That is why I titled my blog as such. For that balance I believe that spirit, body and mind should all be nourished. For that I look toward my family and faith, my running, and my work. I think all are important. I do have to agree with you that if I had to choose family is by far more important than running. One thing that I think people forget in this culture is that family is also more important than work. It is a struggle because you need the latter to support the former...

Your question is the million dollar question. I really won't know where I'll end up until I start looking for faculty positions. At that point it will be were the jobs are.
