Well I can't explain the lack of sleep other than to say that too much sleep the night before or missing my run and not being tired enough but it was a rough night into a long day of work.

In the evening however was a very important run.  Today marked another milestone on my running odometer. As some of you know I've been active my whole life starting with soccer at 5yr and moved on to wrestling etc. It wasn't until my sophomore year in college that I started keeping track of my running in a formal way. I had been running distance since high school but on Oct 27th 1997 I started logging my mileage. Well with the run tonight my total miles run now stands at the 30,004 mile mark.

Tonight I did a run south past the Suicide Loop onto the 2008 SLC Marathon course and back. It was also the first night I wore compression socks. After the first mile I got over the "odd" feeling and felt ok with them overall. As expected I did feel a bit warmer in them.

Do pre-Garmin miles really count? :-)

From Andrea on Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 12:39:49 from 72.37.171.52

30,000? Wow that's a lot of miles.

From Adam RW on Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 12:42:26 from 155.101.152.123

Almost as many as Jake runs each year :)

From Andrea on Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 12:47:02 from 72.37.171.52

No kidding! I've made it my goal to convince him to take ONE day off in the rest of the year. I figure I have a 80/20 shot!

From Andrea on Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 12:48:43 from 72.37.171.52

Wait...maybe that's 20/80 shot. Whichever chance is lower :)

From Jake K on Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 12:50:27 from 155.100.226.54

I'll take at least 4!

From allie on Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 13:31:54 from 161.38.218.168

awesome. you are well on your way through your second journey around the earth. and already 13ish% of the way to the moon!

From Adam RW on Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 13:59:54 from 155.101.152.123

Jake, I hope I didn't get you in trouble. Is the 4 for 1/month? I was all about the running streaks. For the new millennium I wanted to run everyday of the year (>/= 3mi per day). Unfortunately, a foot injury stopped me at 335...

Allie, I like your thinking but at this rate I'll be 138 when I get there, and that's if I keep up my current mileage after I turn 100! :)

From jtshad on Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 14:02:19 from 204.134.132.225

Wow, congrats on the milestone!

From Adam RW on Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 14:04:35 from 155.101.152.123

Jeff, Thank you. Didn't you hit this one recently as well?

From Adam RW on Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 14:04:55 from 155.101.152.123

In less time if I remember correctly.

From Jake K on Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 14:06:03 from 155.100.226.54

haha if i can get myself to willingly take 4 days off the rest of this year, that will be a minor miracle. But w/ 2 marathons on the fall calendar, its possible!

From jtshad on Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 14:06:09 from 204.134.132.225

I got to 24,900 back in January (equatorial distance). I am shooting for about 28,500 by the end of this year.

From Adam RW on Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 14:09:36 from 155.101.152.123

That's what it was. I knew I remembered seeing something along those lines on your blog. It took me nearly 15 yr to get this far.

From Adam RW on Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 14:15:24 from 155.101.152.123

I wasn't sure if I was going to mention this on the blog but I'm planning on a 5K for my 50,000K mark. I want to do it on the Running of the Leopards course so I can try to break 16min (I was so close this spring). However, I need to Avg. just under 54 miles per week to get it by the end of the year and I'll play it by ear for the weather. That being said if anyone who can easily do this time (Jake) would like to pace me for the effort let me know... Obviously a lot between now and then.

From Jake K on Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 14:24:46 from 155.100.226.54

Count me in. Or you could just do a 50K in the snow :-)

From Chad Robinson on Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 14:29:13 from 50.73.39.89

20,000 miles in 4+ months? That seems doable.

From Chad Robinson on Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 14:31:44 from 50.73.39.89

My bad that is 50,000"K" not 50,000"M". I won't be breaking 16 minutes but I think we should make it an event.

From Adam RW on Tue, Aug 14, 2012 at 14:34:20 from 155.101.152.123

Let's see if I stay consistent but I'll post something once it looks like it is going to happen. Nice work reducing your 4mi race time this weekend.
