No run today. I had a rough day yesterday. The reason why I didn’t have my full post was because I trashed my laptop yesterday. Let’s just say liquids and electronics don’t mix well. Fortunately, all work related info is backed up on at least two locations but my running stuff may be lost. To make things extra fun Kaitlyn had a slight fever yesterday and I woke up with a pretty sore throat this morning so I thought lets leave well enough alone and take the day off.

Congrats again to everyone who braved the wind yesterday at the Striders half!

Sorry to here about the computer casualty.

Missed you at striders. Hope everything is well. Steve.

From air darkhorse on Sun, Apr 06, 2008 at 17:47:12

Are you ready for SL Marathon?

From wheakory on Sun, Apr 06, 2008 at 17:52:32

Your Hard drive is probably okay where your data is stored. Tell me how it was trashed and maybe I can help.

From Adam RW on Sun, Apr 06, 2008 at 20:40:37

Steve, I'm as ready as I'm going to be. The last two pace runs were not encouraging for a 2:35. I feel more like a 2:40 is in my legs right now but I want the confidence to at least try for the 2:35 for as long as I can.

Kory, I think the harddrive will be ok. The majority of the damage was done to the keyboard. When I opened it up it didn't look like anything got inside. The computer support guy here at work is supposed to take a look tomorrow before I do anything else. Also, it is still under warranty and I think I took out the idiot coverage so I should be covered :)

From wheakory on Sun, Apr 06, 2008 at 22:52:07

That's great you had the warranty. Laptops you really do need the extended coverage just because their portable and taken everywhere.

Adam I don't think I'm ready for a 2:35, but I can try too. I need to really cut back these two weeks to get my legs refreshed. It will be interesting and fun.

From Adam RW on Sun, Apr 06, 2008 at 23:01:30

Kory, I'm glad you are on board for trying. I think the weather is going to be a huge factor (like it always is). The last two Saturdays there has been a pretty nasty headwind for what will be the last 8-10 miles of the race. I think that is what I mean when I said the pace runs have discouraged me. I've been able to hold near pace but the effort is not something that I felt I could maintain for the full thing. This week I'm going to work on a split table and I will send it your way, I will have a column for 2:35, 2:40, and 2:45. I have to keep reminding myself that even a 2:40 on this course is equvelent to about a 2 min PR.

On a seperate note, where are you staying when you are here? We should meet up on Friday to go to the packet pickup if you are coming in early enough. Also, we should find a way to touch bases at the start. I don't know if carpooling there would be feasible or just meeting somewhere near the start. Think about it and give me a call later this week or early next week so we could finalize plans.

From Adam RW on Sun, Apr 06, 2008 at 23:03:30

Steve, Dave and anyone else making the trip here the plans to coordinate some pre-race get together are of course extended to you as well... I'm not sure what I have in mind but maybe we can figure out something.

Don't get the FLU...it really sucks!

Good luck with the computer.

From Adam RW on Mon, Apr 07, 2008 at 11:52:51

Jeff, If I had to get sick I would say this is the best week for it. I should be able to catch up on some sleep and I'll skip whatever runs I need to but I only have planned about 50miles anyway so I shouldn't have a problem getting it in. I still had a little drip this morning but my throat was slightly better. Kaitlyn's fever is already gone so hopefully whatever it is, it is going to be short lived...

From wheakory on Tue, Apr 08, 2008 at 00:27:26

Adam - I'm staying at the Marriot City Center hotel. I'm going to try to get to Salt Lake at least by 4pm. Barry (on the blog) is also coming up with me and he's running the half marathon. The shuttle buses will be right outside this hotel so I can find you before the start of the race I'm sure.

We should definitely meet at the expo and maybe caught a bite to eat unless you eat something special for your marathon dinner. I usually stick with trying to eat Spaghetti. Just let me know if you've already have plans. Barry, I'm sure would love to meet you and other if others meeting together.

Nice run today. Not running many miles for the next two weeks will not hurt you, because your training is done. There's nothing in the next two weeks that can benefit you in the training to perform better in the marathon. This is what I keep telling myself, because I don't want to over-train. I want to stay with the plan of 50 miles this week. My longest run this week will be Friday and only 13 miles and maybe 5-6 at MP pace.
