What a perfect morning! If only I had gotten more sleep last night... but oh well...

Biked to the pool, swam for 30 minutes (I think I'm getting better!), jogged for 30 minutes (I'm getting better here too, now I can do a few laps without the aquabelt without feeling like I'm going to die), biked to work, and logged into my computer to find out the women's Argentine field hockey team beat Germany and won the bronze medal! Goooo girls! Now it's the men's basketball semifinal with my two favorite countries, Argentina vs. USA! Yikes...

I completely forgot to buy a swimming cap, and my hair is getting pretty bad... ughhhh... I'm going to a concert tonight and my date is going to be horrified :)

Best of luck to all my beloved Utah bloggers out there who are running a certain half marathon tomorrow! I'll be thinking of you all!

Lucia- You are going to be scary-strong when you come back! See all this great endurance and strength you are building! You are awesome!

I wish you were able to sleep better! Sorry about that.

Talk soon- Hey, I carried the FIFA flag once for Argentina vs. Nigera World Cup soccor. It was great - those guys are amazing. However, I have to give it up for Team USA! I hope Shalane Flanagan & Kara Goucher rock the 5000 this morning. I am going to check for an update! Later Gator!

Happy to see another fellow DC-ite on here!

Sorry to hear about your stress fracture--I had one several years ago, and it was almost the most frustrating thing ever. Although, swimming is a fantastic activity to stay in shape (and get in even better shape!). I swam competitively for 8 years and do it to cross train now--It's almost as addicting as running! What pool do you swim at?

Once you're back on your feet, the loop I ran yesterday that is a stellar run is http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2194997

Basically, up Connecticut Ave to the Chevy Chase circle, down Western Ave to Massachusetts Ave, and down Mass Ave to dupont circle...probably my favorite loop to run in the city.

Jill, that's so funny that you carried the flag for a soccer game!

Pegg, I live a few blocks from Eastern Market, so I go to the Rumsey Aquatic Center, it's a nice pool. Yeah... as addictive as running... NOT!!! :) Where do you swim?

That looks like a fabulous loop, though having to stop for lights doesn't bother you? I run a lot on the C&O Canal and by the Mt. Vernon trail so I don't have to deal with traffic... but variety is the spice of life!

Great work out! Get a cap, I wear one or else my hair would be green!! With the cap and goggles no one can recognize me, so who cares how silly I look. Have a great weekend.

You are doing SO great with the cross training! I will cheer everyone on for you at Hobble Creek tomorrow!

Hey - remember that even if you get your hair wet with regular water before your get in the pool, it will help with the damage. Think of your hair like a sponge, if it is already full of "good water" it can't soak up all the chlorine :) Be sure to keep a cheap conditioner in your bag to slather your hair with before you get into the pool, with or without the cap.

From Lucia on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 15:35:53

Marion, I've been wetting my hair and using conditioner like you said and it's been better. I do need to get a cap this weekend!

Thanks for the encouragement. Today was not a good day, I really really really wanted to run and got sick of the cross-training, of carrying a wet towel and wet swim suit and flip flops around...

45 days!!!

Cross training is REALLY irritating! hang in there- I PROMISE it will end soon! and I bet your date will find you HOT even with frazzled hair ;) Just kidding, I bet you look GREAT!
