Personal:

Just another single 30-year old Argentine girl living the American dream in Washington DC and trying to run faster. Graduated from Southern Utah University in 2003, then moved to DC. I have a full-time job as research economist for an association in the transportation industry and I'm attempting to get my Master's degree in Economics from Johns Hopkins, part-time, while keeping my sanity!

Office closed early today! Hooray! A gorgeous day in DC - about 40 degrees outside, perfect for shorts and a long-sleeve shirt. I ran 1 mile to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce building where I used to work to meet with my friend Greg - gosh I am SO happy I don't work there anymore! Greg and I ran 4 miles around the White House and the Lincoln Memorial, then I dropped him off and ran 1 mile back to the office. Felt pretty good throughout but my shin is definitely hurting a bit.

I'm off to Shenandoah tomorrow to hike Old Rag mountain, one of the most popular hikes in the area that I never do except on Christmas or Thanksgiving cause it's so crowded. I'm taking my friend Roberto who isn't in very good shape, so it'll be a slow 8 mile hike, but fun and full of great views.

It's a very special Thanksgiving day for me - it's been a tough year in so many ways, but at the same time I feel so strong, and I've grown and learned so much about myself... and the people around me. I didn't achieve my goal of qualifying for Boston but that's going to make it a lot more special when I do. Sometimes it's the things that get away that help us most in life. And living the dream of qualifying for Boston through so many bloggers in here was so exciting, it made me realize how much I really want it.

Alright, enough blah-blah-blah. Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy thanksgiving to you to Lucia.

I've been reading about all the things you've been through. You're an inspirational lady. So, chin up (even if it hurts), and keep going forward. Have fun in your hike.

Arriva Argentina! Saludos desde Mexico.

Chin - Shin.

First is common word here, like saying "oops".

So, chin, I meant SHIN.

Happy Thanksgiving to you Lucia. Are you going to have to eat turkey thru a straw? I hope not.

Don't worry too much about qualifying for Boston. It took me several years. I finally got old enough and managed to keep what little speed I have and the qual times slowed down.

I'll take care of both my chin and my shin, how's that? Did you know in Spanish (at least in Argentina) chin is translated "pera" which also means "pear"? So when my English wasn't so great I used to refer to my chin as "pear" and nobody had any idea what I was talking about... go figure!

Feliz dia de gracias para todos!
