Biked to work, biked to Courthouse after work to work out with my friend Duygu at her apartment's gym. Used the stationary bike and the elliptical, felt pretty good. Duygu is trying to lose some weight but is not very good at keeping focused on the gym... so I want to think that I helped her out a little. She was on the bike texting her friends so she was going really slow, so every few minutes I'd tell her to focus for one minute and work out at maximum effort... She said it helped her... and I got to use a gym for free!

Now I can't sleep..... again....

Way to use your friends for a free gym workout! lol You sound like a good coach! You should take it up! Then you get the spa membership for free. Texting while working out huh? I had to take my daughters texting off her phone because it drove me crazy! Besides paying 250 bucks for last months charge, seeing some of the texts she was getting from a neighbor boy at the age of 13 and what he was saying made me mad.

Have you ever done a sprint tri? Now that your getting quality swim and biking in you should try it. I think they are so fun and challenging.

From Lucia on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 10:23:13

Yes, texting drives me crazy too! It can be useful sometimes, but for the most part, you're better off either calling or e-mailing.

Ahhhh the overprotective dad is showing now! Man those girls are going to be trouble! My dad went through it with all his four girls, he can give you advice :)

Definitely want to do a tri soon - after my BQ marathon for sure, if I can manage not to swallow the entire pool when I swim!

From walter on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 10:42:18

Yeah, get good in the pool and then wait till you have an open water swim to try out. Its a whole new ballgame there! I just about drowned at the Vikingman in Burley Idaho a couple of months ago. I'm glad I finished the swim on that. I was so tempted to quit.

Yeah, Im overprotective when I see a boys text say "I love how you pull your hair behind your ear and girls with dark hair and blue eyes drive me crazy" Ok give me your phone! I texted him back from my phone and said I guess you didn't know I monitor my daughters phone and what ever you say to her I want you to say to me. lol I asked my daughter if she new I could get the transcript of all her texts she had done, and said, would you be embarrassed if I read them. She said Yes. So I said ok then your texting privileges are over.

From marion on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 13:32:53

Dads are AWESOME!!! My girls are so afraid of us :) I made my girls pay for unlimmited texting. Texting is very annoying!!!

Great work out Lucia! I'm sorry you can't sleep.. Mine got way out of wack when I was not running. Now I m sleeping like a baby!!! :) Now that is a good baby, not one of mine. My babies NEVER slept!!!

From Kelli on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 13:39:20

You are a workout machine. If I can not run, I go to classes because it is the only thing that will get me moving---having someone tell me to do it!

I am lazy and do not want to go back and read through all of your stuff---so, for me the newbie, what happened and when can you run again??

From Kelli on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 13:43:21

I am an idiot. Sorry. I just read through your profile---got it! So you can run again, soon! Good.

And wow on your working and getting a masters degree. That is tough stuff!

From walter on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 18:18:23

Us fathers do what we can marion. I dont want to be so anal that my daughter wont talk to me again so maybe ill put it back on as a good gesture.

From marion on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 18:27:01

Ah- she'll be ok. They have got to know we are serious some times. And nothing bugs me more than when my kids start acting entitiled to everything. Oooo... I sence a soapbox starting up, so I'd better say... Good night, sleep tight and pleasant dreams to you. Here's a wish and a prayer that all your dreams come true. And now 'till we meet again, adios, aurevoir, alvederzain!!! (sorry about the really bad spelling) Lawrence Welk & vanilla ice cream every Sunday night at Grandmother & Grandads!

From Kim on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 18:38:36

Marion....you stole a memory right out of my head! I loved going to my grandparent's house for Lawrence Welk and ice cream! I also remember Little House on the Prairie there and lots of Linda Rondstat! I love grandparent memories!

Oh..and Lucia,,, you continue to amaze me with your cross training and great attitude!

From walter on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 18:42:22

Marion, what the heck was that! You crack me up. My inlaws would only allow that to be watched on sundays and the spoken word.

Then I came into their lives and now football and sports are allowed up there. Its funny, though how kids mold parents. My 6 year old insisted on a 60 dollar skirt from Aeropastle and when I told her no she started screaming! Holy crap I wanted to smack her. I stay far away from those places now. If they want me to go, I just wait outside.

By the way its Auf Wiedersehen. which is German and that is my second language. I wish Spanish was because its definitely more spoken here than Deutsch!

Lucia, we're trying to get you on the hot discussion board! I need to get some of my discussions dropped from there.

From marion on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 18:44:49

Kim- My daughter, for the longest time, called little House on the Prarie, "the show that makes you cry, Mommy" I still love to watch that on KBYU. and... Linda Rhonstat (sp?) is one of my very most favorite memories!

From marion on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 18:48:16

Sorry for the German massacre. I should know better, my hubby is 1/2 german and his whole family (get ready for another massacre) sprekken ze deutsch!!!! except me, obviously!

From walter on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 18:54:14

that was close, its: sprechen sie Deutsch?

I say: Ja naturlich.

By the way Little House is still the most wholesome show on tv. I make my kids watch it sometimes. I always end up doing the whole see they dont have a light switch like you do. They have to go outside to go to the bathroom. They dont have an aeropostale and pennys, and outlet chain malls to go to. They make their own clothes! I think thats why they quit watching it with me. lol

From Kelli on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 19:03:22

Walter---you ain't seen nothin' yet!! Aero (as us cool people call it) is cheap!! Wait until they beg you to go to Buckle and Hollister for the $100 shirt!!!

DO NOT GIVE IN, stay strong! Texting is STUPID and a very unnecessary EVIL!

From Lucia on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 21:02:18

Hey everyone! I just came back from the pool, drenched because I forgot my towel, and I'm all chlorinated because they're redoing the bathroom so I have no shower at home, only to find ya'll's comments! Very cool!

"La Familia Ingalls", as it was translated into Spanish, is the best show EVER. Oh boy did we love it! I bet you guys would think it's so funny when they double the voices in Spanish.

Kids can be so silly! Growing up, we lived for 2 years in a small town a few kilometers from the Bolivian border - everything was a lot cheaper there at the time, so the family would go up there to buy clothes every once in a while. I used to get so mad when my mom made me get clothes there, I wanted the expensive brand name Argentine clothes!

Now? I buy the cheapest clothes I can find (except for running clothes and shoes... sometimes I splurge there...)

So, Argentina is playing USA tomorrow in basketball... I'm a citizen of both countries, what do I do, what do I do???

Wall-e, YOU are Mr. popular, not me :)

From Kelli on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 21:06:47

I say cheer for whoever ya think is gonna win! That is how i do it (unless my kids are playing!)

Name brand is over-rated, isn't it? If I can not get it at Target, I do not need it.

And don't ya love when conversation go on in your Blog ALL DAY and you miss out on it?

From walter on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 22:04:07

Ok Lucia, Ive done that before. I got out of the pool went to the locker and said some obsense words as I dried off with the hand dryers. Do you know what that looks like standing naked getting blown dry? Need I say more? Not good.

Whenever 2 teams that I like play each other I route for both and whichever team wins is who I claim to be a part of! lol that way there is no down moments afterwards.

Kelli, Yes I could give a crap less what brand is on my butt. I do however like the way certain brands fit me and if it fits my skinny butte, then Ill buy it.

From jill on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 22:27:09

Half pint here!!! Gosh, for my 6th birthday my aunt sewed me an apron and hat just like half pint's. I begged by dad to call me half pint.. i loved Little House on the Prarie. Remember grizzley adams too?

Ok, Lucia, great work.. sorry about no shower! Eeek... But you are a rockstar! And, I got your othr email - will respond tomorrow! :o)

Going to watch Olympics!!!

From marion on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 00:21:20

About the clothes, if I cant get it from target or old Navy- its out!!

My kids never take towels to swim team, ever.. but there is zero humidity. They just pop their hoodies and pj pants on and walk home. It saves on washing 4,000,000 towels a day around here! (that is an actual #, not and exageration) how do you spell exaggeration? egzageration? now I am not even sure how to say it. It is time for bed.. or maybe ice cream? Cherry Garcia! Ben and Jerry are my night time buddies!
