Another sleepless night last night... tonight I'll have to resort to pills... Tylenol PM or something...

Biked to the pool this morning, did a 15-minute breast stroke warm-up, then 30 min aquajogging, then 15 minutes breast stroke. I did a few laps without the aquabelt. Holy cow it is HARD! I can only get to 1/2 the pool length, then float a little and then keep going... I was able to get my heart rate up to 120-130 but that's about it... plan is to join gym this evening - must do more cardio work!

Here is my top 10 inspiring running songs:

1. Eye of the tiger
2. Don't stop believing (Journey)
3. Whole wide world (the monkees)
4. Keep on running from my love (Stevie Wonder)
5. Move along
6. Flashdance (What a feeling)
7. Heart of glass (Blondie)
8. You sexy thing (hot chocolate)
9. Fame!
10: The final countdown (Europe)

PM: 1-hour bike ride with the Luna girls, prompted by a hint by the beautiful and talented fellow fastrunningblogger Jill, then biked back to the office, showered, and went on a dinner date :)

Cool party! I may hop on a plane ;D

Great workout Lucia! I LOVE your songs! All among my top 20 for sure. I have been running to a lot of Evanesesnces (sp?) and Kelly clarkson, as my girls have tons of their music on all of our comupters. The best part of having 5 music lovers in the house is a never ending supply of music!

Stay afloat!!!

Are you sure guys arent allowed Jill? lol Ill fly right now! ok heres my long awaited list for songs:

Fergie-Clumsy

Jason Mraz-Im yours

Jesse McCartney-Leavin'

Rehab-Bartender

Blue October-Hate me

Daft Punk-Harder,better,faster,stronger

Madonna-Give it to me

State of Shock-Money, Honey

Billy Idol-Hot in the city

Thompson Twins-You take me up

I hope the two last songs dont show my age too much.

Lucia, is your new perfume called "Chlorine"? It reminds me of the seinfeld episode. You should bottle it up. Call it Pool water by Lucia Walter. That sounds pretty dang good huh?

From Lucia on Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 11:21:45

Walter you are too funny!

I love about half your songs and don't recognize the other half... will have to look them up. Billy Idol, Blue October, and Madonna are part of my repertoire as well.

The guy I share my office with actually complained this morning that the smell of chlorine was bothering him! What do other swimmers do?? I wonder if there's an oil I can coat myself on before getting in the pool to avoid getting the smell! It's awful!!!

From walter on Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 11:32:04

I dont know any tips on taking chlorine out of your skin. I dont think the pool would want you jumping in with a coat of oil on! I would just use perfume. Then the guy in your office will be looking at you in a different light. Oh I forgot Barry white on my top ten!

From Lucia on Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 11:36:24

Well, what help are you to me then, Wall-e? :)

My co-worker has to put up with me putting on lotion all the time, since the chlorine dries out my skin so much - seriously, there HAS TO be something I can do about this... Anyone knows of a fastswimmingblog website that can help me? :)

From walter on Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 17:13:34

See your looking for a swim blog website. I told you we'd make a triathlete out of you. Putting lotion on in front of coworkers is harrasment! jk, what about your hair. I had to wash with conditioner everyday when I was swimming. Your hair gets brittle and right now that one of my key features. lol

From Lucia on Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 17:29:18

I mentioned the lotion because it adds to the smell in the room, which is why I can't use perfume! Chlorine, lotion, food, ink... too many smells...

My hair is horrible! I had to buy a special shampoo - I'd never paid more than $2-3 for a bottle of shampoo but the other day I bought one for $10 so that it gets rid of the chlorine without leaving my hair as if I were a scarecraw! I need to buy a silicone cap to protect my hair, and I read something about a special soap that gets rid of the smell in the skin. Guys can get away with brittle hair but us girls have to have nice, "flowing" hair (George in Seinfeld!)

From marion on Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 17:44:48

We swimmers (my teenage daughters- beautiful blondies) Slather their hair with conditioner before getting in the pool. It can be super cheap stuff. Then they shove their hair in their lycra swim cap. After they swim, they just wash their hair. No straw hair (like my boys) no green hair either. Also, if you get your hair wet with regular water first before you get in, the regualr h2o fills in all of the little cracks in your hair so the chlorine water won't soak in so much. The conditioner trick is the best. We used to use expensive chlorine removing shampoo until we learned the conditioner trick.

I hope this helps and keeps your hair so soft and flowing :) The straw hair thing on guys is a big turn on for me. I love the surfer swimmer dude look. It's what sold me on my hubby! I told him he should start swimming again so he could look like the US swim team, he said, "I do look like them.. in 20 years!!" :) This would be why I love him now :D

From walter on Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 18:01:55

Lucia, I quote from silence of the lambs movie "the lotion is for the skin. put the lotion in the basket or your going to get the hose!" I have heard of putting conditioner in my hair under my cap before, that is a great tip. marion, you crack me up! my hair is getting there!
