Just another single 30-year old Argentine girl living the American dream in Washington DC and trying to run faster. Graduated from Southern Utah University in 2003, then moved to DC. I have a full-time job as research economist for an association in the transportation industry and I'm attempting to get my Master's degree in Economics from Johns Hopkins, part-time, while keeping my sanity!

A cold and windy day in DC - biked 34 miles with my friend Will, who had hernia surgery a few weeks ago, but felt well enough to bike a little. We biked 20 miles together, and then I biked 14 more to get home. Not too shabby for a lazy girl like me! The weeping willows were soooo pretty on my way back home, I had to stop and snap a photo for everyone to see. Here they go. (again, thanks Mike!)

Wow, those trees are really moving! so you biked with will and hes only a few weeks from his surgery? Tough guy! I should try seeing if I could ride a bike. Or go see if I can get back to swimming.

34 miles on a bike seat sounds like torture. You and Will have tough buns.

From Aaron-PSU on Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 09:45:55

Just watch out for those killer bridges!!!

From Metcalf Running on Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 09:55:05

I agree with the tough buns LOL I dont' know if I could sit after a ride that long.

I forgot to mention I don't have padded shorts or seat - being a Latina has its advantages: natural padding!

Walter, yours was double hernia surgery so you need double the time to recover! My friend rested for 3 weeks after surgery... you may need a little more time...

Aaron, I get goose bumps every time I go close to the 14th St. bridge, I tell ya... What's up with you? Not running much?

From montelepsy on Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 10:18:01

Hmmm... Are there any exercises to develop a latina butt? I could sure use one during spin.

From Aaron-PSU on Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 10:19:17

Hey Lucia, As you should get those goosebumps. Just BE CAREFUL!!!! You need to start off 2009 totally injury free. :) Not much going on for me...searching/interviewing for new jobs, both here and in Colorado Springs. Yup...still trying. I've been slacking lately but do need to get back into running, at least for the pure energy it gives me on a daily basis. Oh, and I don't want to lose to you at the Jingle all the Way, do I? hehe

From Lucia on Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 10:25:13

Nope, you have to be born in latin America - it's the only way :)

From Lucia on Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 10:26:10

Aaron, keep on trying and something will work out! Also, I have a feeling you can beat me at the 10k even if you don't run for 2 weeks before the race!

From montelepsy on Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 10:27:40

Then I'm stuck with this chinapino butt that hurts when I think about a bike seat.
