10 min aqua jogging this morning, followed by a kick-butte (yes, I said butte) swimming lesson. Learning to swim freestyle for a 30-year old grown up is going to be a lot harder than I thought, but this was only my 2nd lesson so I shouldn't get ahead of myself. I just can't seem to get the breathing right, I feel like I'm out of breath every few seconds, and feel soooo clumsy in the water! It'll get better, I know it... The plan is to go back this afternoon after work for another hour. Biked to work.

So now my hair is not so smelly but my nails look terribly yellow! If it's not one thing it's the other. My swimming coach was telling me that he is training for a triathlon, but that his favorite are duathlons, with only swimming and biking - he wishes there were more of that available cause his weakest skill is running. I was like... What???? So maybe when I can start running I can help him out! I mean, after swimming, running is a piece of cake!

Highlight of the day: lunch with the uber-fabulous fellow blogger Jillzo! You think she's awesome just by reading her fastrunningblog, but you have NO idea of how amazing of a person she really is. THANK YOU JILL!!!

One hour at the pool after work - some jogging, some practice swim. Biked home from work.

Super cool swimming lesson. My parents took the sink of swim approach with us as kids. We either swam or... well I don't know- we all swam :D You will get the hang of it, you really will. I am SO stinkin' proud of you! WAY TO GO!!! I think it is so cool that you are going to come out of this injury with a totally awesome new skill!

When I first started swimming my head was up and it was the same. I did a couple laps and the guy next to me stopped me and told me I looked like a baby duck trying to not drown! I was exerting to much energy and I needed to relax and practice putting my head in the water and breathing. I learned that when you just relax and slow your swim stroke down, you kind of glide and thats how I broke through the hard part of swimming. Now Im just learning technique and tips that help me go faster. Its actually quite addictive just like running, and biking. I always feel like Im cheating when I bike because I cover so much ground in such a short time. But for you, you absolutely need it to help with injuries and recovery.

Thanks Marion! Yes, it'll be great to feel like I didn't waste my time...

Walter, that's exactly my problem. I need to relax, slow down, and keep my head down. And be patient.

By the way, Men's soccer, Argentina: 3, Brazil: 0 !!!!!

I always wonder about the swimmng. I used to be really good at it, and somewhere along the line I stopped and now I can't ever get the breathing right. With running you really take for granted the freedom to breath whenever you like, but swimming. I may be here soon, so thanks for updating us on how the swimming's going. Also, you probably need a swim cap if you don't already use one. P.S. thanks again for all your kind words. I really appreciate it.

Great job - swimming is tough, not like running where you can stop and catch your breath and not have to worry about drowning :) Thanks for your words, I hit the bike this morning because of YOU.

Hey, do those belegas socks have the fitted left and right foot socks? Are they thin or more cottony (if thats a word)

From Lucia on Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 23:18:43

The balegas are pretty thick and very soft (I guess that's what you mean by "cottony"?) and at least the ones I have aren't fitted for left and right... They're great socks!

From walter on Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 23:43:31

Im going to order a couple of pairs. Ive been racing in the super light socks I dont even know what they are made of cotton or what not but they have a left and right sock and they seem to only work in my asics ds trainers shoes.

You feeling on the up and up? I got a job today finally. An addition on the back of a Pre-School. The owner was drunk when he told me to get on it so I hope I dont show up tomorrow and he asks me what the crap im doing there. lol

My leg feels good but I havnt been putting any pressure on it. Ill keep you posted. Now get some rest! I keep forgeting your 2 hours ahead. Its almost midnight.
