Personal: I was a single mom. Two times over. We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions. Then, I met a man I didn't deserve. And he loves me so much. And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer. Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now. But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway. This is my failure blog now. Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded. Favorite Blogs: |

| | Drove into town in hopes to avoid mud and slush but ran into my fair share of snow, slush, and ice anyway. Little bit of a headwind slowed me down some, but all in all felt decent for the run. 8.11 in 1:09:05/8:31 pace. Did two circuits of strength drills afterward. My cold is actually going away finally. |

| | Felt good today. 8.54 in 1:10:37/8:16 pace. Picked it up to 10k race pace for the last half mile. Ran on the dirt roads today since they weren't too terribly muddy. I'm sure my joints appreciated it after all that concrete and asphalt yesterday. I saw that there is a brand new Trail Half Marathon in June in my county. I'm thinking about running it for fun--I like trail runs--no pressure for speed but lots of fun and scenery.

| | Same route as yesterday in 1:10:22/8:14 pace. Had to fight the wind in places but overall a good run. Felt good. Can't wait for my 10k on the 11th. Big PR coming I hope! I'm going to go register for it today. My husband had eggs and toast and jelly ready for me when I was done. |

| | Felt a little soreness in the left quad at work last night. It was gone this morning, but I decided to go extra slow today anyway as a precaution. We were under wind advisory with 40mph gusts, that coupled with the drizzling rain that was stinging my face and the fact that I was tired made it easy to go slow. 1:13:29/9:01 pace. Stuffed my guts with french toast for breakfast. Went and signed up for the 10K yesterday! |

| | First 4 miles in 34:37/8:39 pace. Then 1 mile at what I felt was a realistic 10K race pace--fast but comfortable and I was not fatigued at all after only one mile of it--7:18, which would calculate to a 45:21 10K, so, if conditions are good I may get my 45 minute 10k next week. I feel more confident about the pace being sustainable. ran 3 more miles for a time of 31:23/7:50 pace average for the last 4. Finally had a breakthrough in my weight today. I have been at a plateau for several months now--it may just be a fluke but we will see. I have not changed my eating habits--they are pretty healthy--I am just seeing if gradually higher mileage eventually would translate into a little weight loss if I was patient and I think it may. I'm not exactly sure what weight I should go for. I am 5'1". I weighed 103 pre-pregnancy, but weighed 98 in high school. I am thinking I will just let my weight decide for itself and not do anything special to lose more. |

| | 1:14/8:18 pace. Surprised me since I felt like I was crawling in the heat and wind. 70 degrees tdoay and sunny(last week my run was post-blizzard through snow--only in Kansas!--the bipolar weather capital of the world). Anyways I am not used to the heat, and it was windy today, 25mph with 35mph gusts. Guess I better get used to it. Heat and wind will be the story of my running life this summer! I ran a smidgen extra today so I could hit my first 50 mile week! Yahoo! |
