Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

Really, I should re-title this blog "how a desperate mother fits her runs in" because the lengths I am going to seem almost absurd.  5am--6.24 at 8:43 pace so I can make it home before David goes to work.  So David is off to work and it is spring break but older kids are off to camps and stuff and I can't really leave a 10,8, and 2 year old home alone and go very far.  Vanessa had issues with her asthma this weekend so outdoor stroller running is out.  The solution?  I will call it the "Gochenour property trail loop".  Start at the back door, run down to the end of the pasture, turn along the barbed-wire fence, run back up the pasture, turn and go around the neighbor's pond, cut across both our property lines, cruises across the north side of the yard, past the back door, and repeat.  It is about .5 mile per loop, and entails grass of various lengths, tree stumps, mud, and a little rolling up and down.  It is also within eyesight and shouting distance of the house. 8am.  loopx6, reversed directions halfway through.  3 miles at 8:32 pace.  Gotta work late tonight, will not get up at 5 tomorrow.  I wonder if I will be able to stomach 20 loops tomorrow?

Good work on getting out there! I remember Magdelana Lewy Boulet ran on the treadmill when she couldn't leave her child alone, the sound of the footsteps seemed to send it to sleep!

....you GO GIRL.....at least my 20 1-mile loops were on favorable road conditons : D

Way to get your run in today, April! With the daylight savings time change, 5 am must've felt pretty early!

Looks like you'll need to be flexible and run when you can this week. Maybe you can splurge for a babysitter for just one day this week? I don't know, tho, that sweet adorable looking Vanessa might not cotton to anyone besides you! I hope her asthma does better this week. And I just read about Sunday's barefoot run - yikes . . .

Oh wow! Love the ingenuity!

I was also going to ask if you were running naked as well...your runs sound so out there I figured you added the au natural attire element as well : D your descriptions were reminding me of some runs mentioned in the Runners World and since you ran barefoot Sunday (going over to read that now, why not?,,,seriously I would NEVER run naked unless I borrowed a MODELS body)

Good on you for getting the miles in anyway. I can see us having similar issues with time this summer so it's good to see you can deal with it, even if it isn't ideal.

Chris--I wish I had a treadmill sometimes. Perhaps I will find a very good deal on one sooner or later!

Adele--I am trying to get something arranged for Wednesday so I can get some marathon pace intervals in...

Tracy--I almost feel desperate :)

Julie--I don't know if the neighbors would appreciate the naked streaker around their pond, of course they're not home this week haha. I would have to at least wear a sportsbra though I'm afraid the flapping without one would just be too uncomfortable:)

Joe--I keep telling myself that it has to count for something. I'm huffing and puffing and my legs are working, so there is some kind of training stimulus going on!
