Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

Drove to my best friend Kim's house out west--she has a treadmill.  Vanessa and Lexi(my goddaughter) played and I ran. Started out at 7.1mph whatever that means for .67, then the cord thing fell off and the treadmill shut down.  Got it all figured out a few minutes later and ran 9.5 more at 8:05 average pace.  Whew neither the basement nor the treadmill had a fan, and my sweat levels were approaching Burt caliber.  Kim's mom was there and she graciously brought me a towel so I could mop myself off every once in a while.  Treadmill running stinks but at least I got to run.

Good job getting your run in April, especially since it was on a treadmill with no fan! Must've felt like forever to you since you are used to running free outside. Treadmill time goes by much more quickly if you can tweak the incline and/or speed at regular intervals, but that might've made the sweat fly more, though!

Oh, the joy of treadmill sweat!!! Very nice job, I so can not run those speeds on the treadmill, it is hard for me. i am very impressed!

From Tracy on Thu, Mar 25, 2010 at 14:29:56 from 173.23.75.96

There is nothing so vile as treadmill sweat...

I love living vicariously through your speed!

From CookieLegs on Thu, Mar 25, 2010 at 14:36:27 from 155.101.152.105

Oh, I so agree with Tracy! I just love it when you run a whole bunch of fast miles and you blog about how good it feels!!

Oh, I so agree with Tracy! I just love it when April runs a whole bunch of fast miles and blogs about how good it feels!!

I totally agree about the treadmill feeling hard! It feels much much harder to me than regular running, another reason to dislike it. But, a run's a run and I'll take it in any form--gotta get my fix. Treadmill sweat is totally gnarly though, dripping off my face and sometimes splashing on my legs GROSS!

From Kelli on Thu, Mar 25, 2010 at 15:02:53 from 71.219.89.155

My sweat flies all over the place, I feel bad for the people next to me on the treadmill!!

I am actually getting used to the treadmill running and can pick up the pace a little more that i used to be able to, but still nothing like I can do outside. It frustrates me!

From CookieLegs on Thu, Mar 25, 2010 at 15:20:52 from 155.101.152.105

I'm lucky because my TM has a good fan and is near a window in a cool basement. Not a lot of problems with sweat for me, but I can see how it could be pretty gross in a crowded gym with warm temps!

From SlowJoe on Thu, Mar 25, 2010 at 16:17:41 from 131.59.200.80

Amen, TMs are a nightmare. How you managed to stay on for 10 miles in the heat is a wonder to me. I never manage more than 30-40 minutes before I just quit.

From CookieLegs on Thu, Mar 25, 2010 at 16:54:05 from 155.101.152.105

Oh no, no, no, you guys just need to be more creative! Watch the guys in the skinny jeans 1/2 thru this video I found on the FRB discussion board.

At least they are considerate and wear long sleeve shirts to keep from splashing sweat on each other. Kelli?

From KP on Thu, Mar 25, 2010 at 17:29:10 from 65.208.22.25

OMG! That video is amazing! I can't even run in a straight line on the treadmill... WOW!

From Kelli on Thu, Mar 25, 2010 at 18:28:29 from 71.219.89.155

I love that video, my daughter likes to play it all the time. In fact, I wish the gym would play that music, it might make the run easier!!! Or just put this on a TV to watch while we run, that would be entertaining! Can you imagine the PRACTICE that took??

I use a towel and try to wipe my sweat off as much as possible, you can even see me hop off for a second every few miles to wipe myself down really well!!! I try to not fling sweat....

From Smooth on Thu, Mar 25, 2010 at 22:28:23 from 174.23.198.220

I LOVE that video. Those guy did one with dominoes and bunch of amazing contraception all syncrinized in a huge warehouse. RivertonPaul posted that couple weeks ago. SO COOL!

April ~ FUN "toddler run" yesterday and WAY to get your fix on the TM...SWEET sweat'n! I really admire the countless creative ways you try to fit in a run with your busy life and a little precious toddler who needs mommy. Keep on truck'n.

From Burt on Fri, Mar 26, 2010 at 17:48:48 from 206.19.214.144

Burt levels?? Oh no. That's bad. That's really bad.
